I thought this was interesting Ming in his diary for the Chinese newspaper: .....Barkley kept talking smack on me. New York fans boos, of course because they can not get me. It will be more of that when our team visits NY. Well, Francis should share the trouble---after all, it is him who got #1 for the Rockets. As for Barkley, I don't need to say more. he didn't bring a championship for Rockets, he didn't even wait for me to carry bags for him. If I get the championship trophy one day, I will remember to send him a duplicate as gift.
Good thing he didn't take the NY fans too seriously. If I get the championship trophy one day, I will remember to send him a duplicate as gift. If writes this kind of stuff in a newspaper, would it be possible to have a "similar" type of diary when he comes to Houston? I'm sure that it would be pretty entertaining to hear what he has to say about steve and the rest of the Rockets.
This doesn't sound like a man who will have cultural problems dunking on and otherwise humiliating his opponents.
HAHAHA!!! I can't believe he said that about Barkley, but if he did, I absolutely love the kid!! It shows he has a real knowledge for the game and a good personality and can be semi-prepared for all of the hardships he will face here in the States.
That is the best quote from him yet. LOL. Humble and confident, who does that remind me of. Except Ming has a crazy sense of Humor. I like it reference to carrying the bags. I think Ming does read the BBS because their was reference to that a couple of days ago.
AWESOME, HILARIOUS! Someone please continue to post up more from Ming's diary as the summer goes on. This is great stuff. He needs to continue to do this with the Chronicle when he joins the Rockets. In fact, if the Chronicle were smart they would work a deal with the Shanghi newspaper RIGHT NOW to run his diarys all summer long. Get to work Chronicle! Chris
His got a good sense of humor, also luv the part where he said Francis should share the trouble of getting back at NY for their booing, since he was the one who got them the No.1 pick -G'day-
The dude hasn't played one NBA game and he's already talking smack. Nice confidence but please there are guys who have been in the NBA for years who don't talk that much smack. I'd prefer if he left it alone until at least he plays a couple of games.
http://sports.sohu.com/30/78/sports_news164537830.shtml I just translated teh last part. By the way, Ming probably wouldn't realize somebody would translate this into English and posted on a English BBS. Here I officially apolygize if he didn't intend this for the American crowd. michecon
This is NOTHING compared to what other players in the league say. Shaq, and Pierce have said MUCH worse in the playoffs alone. And Caron Butler just came out and said he'd make every team that passed him in the draft pay. Heck, his rookie year Webber talked trash to Barkley. I like Ming's confidence, he's played pro ball. It isn't NBA ball, but it's still professional basketball.
That's not a fair criticism. Remember his readers are Chinese, he's not writing for ESPN. To me, this shows his confidence, humor and intelligence. He knows how to handle media.
As i posted on the other thread about this, i hope ming can back all this talk up. But it shows the kid's got some balls and a sense of humor
why!!!??? why!!!??? why did you show me this????? i don't want to read crap like this from a new Rocket.. before he gripes back at a hall of famer and one of the best to ever play the game, he might get ONE quarter of NBA basketball under his belt....yeah, chuck never won a ring for the rockets..but he did get his team to the NBA Finals...and he did assist in getting the rocks to the WCF. Ming hasn't touched the court yet!! can anyone imagine how much we'd be villifying Jay Williams if he made comments like this???
Take it easy or else get a life. If you got smacked at school(PUBLIC) because you are unknown yet you were able to make joke of it at HOME and working on yourself in the mean time, I will say you have a good personality. Chucky (who is Yao's idol) smacked him big time, and it was headlines in China. And he did say he would have carried bags for chucky
Maybe be Chuck could let Yao Ming get one quarter under his belt before he starts trashing the guy and calling him things like "Chow Mein"
I think the guy is just having a little fun. He's probably pumped up to be going to the NBA. A lot of it is mental and getting in peoples heads. Jordan smacked more than anyone and got in his opponents head. Nothing wrong with Ming talking innocent smack, as long as the guy CAN back it up. Not like he said "I'm gonna crush those damn American Imperialists!"
