Hey ya'll. I'm a new member here. I just got back from Afghanistan where I discovered this site on base. I haven't heard much about Yao Ming. What type of obligations will he be under from the Chinese government (they own everything)? Will he have to return to China every summer? I envisioned Ming declaring asylum & causing an international incident of sorts. But then again, I think of what would happen to his family if he did that. Semper Fi! And.....has the 2002-03 schedule been released? Happy 4th, everyone. God bless the USA....& the Rockets!:D

welcome, and thanks for serving us over there.

i don't know allt he details of the deal but ming will need to go back for various tournaments and the Olympics for the chinese team. it wasn't as bad as everyone was suspecting at first. He is supposed to play all year for us w/o interruption. He won't be available to us until about the 2nd wk of training camp, though. Almost when they begin their exhibition games.

there are some very good articles/posts for you to search for from over the past three weeks or so on this site about Ming. He has many skills and athleticism. the rest will be up to him to develop and strengthen.

Great to have you on board!
