The problem is that he has to go through extensive physicals required of all rookies before he is even allowed to workout. As a result, he may not be cleared to workout before Thursday's game against Philly.

I hope it is sooner, but...

    Come on Jeff,

You aren't buying that garbage are you?

Read between the lines...."Ming is very jet lagged, and we want him to play for our home town fans first"...relates to....

    Extensive physical.

    :)

I'm guessing the physical is for insurance purposes. Before he's covered for injuries suffered on the court, the insurance companies want to prod and check every inch of the guy.

So... while the 4 day waiting period sounds very very long, I'm thinking the check-up is legit. I just hope it wraps up by Wednesday.

They must have set a speed record with the physical as CC.net is reporting that Yao is practicing today.

I'd give Yao the week off, and bring him off the bench against Indiana. Trial by fire.

Hate to sound like a parrot, but Rudy's right with '...playing it by ear...', BLAH BLAH BLAH

If he looks like he can go, why not let him play against SA? If not, no harm, let him rest and learn.

But if he does play at SA, WOW!!, he could be matched up against Duncan from the get-go, talk about hitting the ground running!

But I have a sneaky suspicion that Yao Ming will see his first action against the Sixers, i.e. let the hometown fans get the first peak.
