People, look at the whole picture. Everyone wants to talk to Houston because everyone want Ming. If not, everyone would be talking to Chicago.

Houston has said all along that they will not take a point guard. Then why is everyone knocking on Houstons door step.

Ming is a talented shooter. He has a shooting touch most other player, even guards don't attain. We're talking about a center having that sort of shooting touch. Not just a center, a 7'5" inch center. With shoes he is 7'6".

Ming would have gone number 1 last year. That without his 21 for 21 game. Last year Ming was more potential, even in China. This year he destroyed everyone else in China. Ming is ready for the NBA. He is one year older, one year more mature, he is 21 and ready to start banging.

Yes, he's going to get pounded on by Shaq. But he's not going to be asked to guard Shaq his rookie year for extended periods of time. Have you forgotten we've got Cato, Taylor, Collier, and Thomas!

    Best scenario is still:

    c--Ming
    PF-Taylor
    SF-Rice
    SG-Mobley
    PG-Francis

    Backups:
    c--Cato, Collier
    PF-Thomas
    SF-Griffin
    SG-Torres
    PG-Norris

Sure I lack the monster trades, eveyone is hearing, but I like this team. Has everyone forgotten that Taylor and Rice were injured last year?

It is very unlikely that we trade like last years Griffin steal: But this could happen.

    C-Cato
    PF-Brand
    SF-Szerbiack
    SG-Mobley
    PG-Francis
    6th man- Griffin

This is what I read into the Rockets!!! trade proposal. But highly unlikley.

    Well said.

A 7'5" guy with skills comes around once in a lifetime, in fact he is the first since Ralph Sampson back in 1983, almost 20 years.

Ming is the real deal, and since actions speak louder then words, he is the prime reason that all the other teams are trying to get to number 1.

Skill and Size has all other teams drooling.

Last year teams were so disappointed that he wasn't coming out.

I think its just a smoke screen other teams are pulling out the Williams card and the Chineese government things.

Even if Ming fizzles out at center, imagine having a 7'5" SF!!!!! Ouch, that would be so awsome.

I don't think saying that Ming is going to be just a little better than Bradley is accurate. Everyone knew that Bradley had no offensive skills coming out of college and he never did anything defensively than block shots. Ming will block the shots, but also gives more size which will help him adapt to large centers, and he also has more offensive skills already than Bradley will ever have.

Look, even if he is never the post machine that Shaq is he can still be a very effective center. He can already consistently hit 15-18 footers, which he'll get plenty of opportunities to shoot when the defense callapses on Steve or Cat (assuming Cat learns how to pass). Also, Ming would work well playing a high pick n roll (like Webber and Bibby did). These are all things Ming can do now that will make him effective. He'll obviously have to learn to use his body and beef up to be an effective defender and rebounder, but he's already got more things he can do than Bradley has ever had.

Bradley coming out of college was considered to have "great potential". He was noted for a good mid-range jumpshot and good mobility for someone his size. Of course his potential hasn't amounted to anything but a nice fat salary... hmm... I wonder what we'll be saying in about 8-10 years about "that Ming guy".

I completley agree. All Ming has to do is set the pick for Francis or Mobley. Step back and swich a wide open 18 footer.

The more people post their worries about Ming, the more worried I get. Bradley is always brought up when people discuss the worst that could happen with Ming.

However, if I really think about it I just think it will work out.

    1) If worse comes to worse and Ming turns out to be a Bradely he would still give us a valuable player as a platoon center to go with Eddie and Cato. We will almost for certain have the best shotblocking in the league. How many times did we just have a problem with lack of height in the last two years? Often. We still go to the playoffs even if we get minimum production from Ming the first year, other than shot blocking and Cato style dunks from Francis' passes.

    2) The hysteria about Ming being Bradley reminds me of the virtual 90% of the board that was obsessed with Kenny Thomas being overweight, because we had just had a weight problem with Thomas Hamilton the year before. There were hundereds of fat boy posts and dozens of fat boy threads. It just didn't happen. Different player. Different motivation.

    3) Many people think that Bradley's main problem is not his size or lack of athleticism, but that he mentally doesn't have it to ever work on his game. Bradley skinny as he is has not really had his career ruined by injuries. A work ethic is not a problem with Ming. Many seem to think he has a high bb IQ. So quit the Bradley comparisons.. Different player. Different motivation. It is just not going to happen.

    4) Ming has strong legs and about 65 pounds over Bradley when he entered the league. He still has a good thrity pounds over the Bradley of today. There seems to be good evidence that he runs better, shoots better and is a better passer than Bradley. You just don't have to be Tracy McGrady coordinated to be a valuable center if you have some skills.

    5) When the downside is not that great and the upside is a homerun, you go to go for it.
