Carlos Have any of you seen this show...It's freakin' hilarious...Very stereotypical mexican humor, but he makes fun of all races...My g/f said she's seen him in concert and I've never even heard of this guy, but this show rocks... I recommend you guys checking it out on Comedy Central...
YES! I love this show. "Shamu loves everybody... FOR DINNER!" Also loved the desperate gardeners skit.
I got to see him here in Houston a few months ago.. great stuff, I like his standup better than his show... I really liked the Chillis skit
Mencia is hilarious in concert. I've seen him here in Houston before and his live stuff absolutely blows away the watered-down Comedy Central stuff. He's one of my favorite comedians out there, right now. If you can get your hands on his 2003 concert dvd, I would highly recommend it. Freakin' brilliant.
"That show only further's the stereotype that George Lopez is funny.." seriously though, i hate this guy. he's only a little bit funnier than dat phan, and that ain't saying much. "mexicans do this, lol! and black people do this, LOLZ!! AND WHITE PEOPLE DO THIS!! rofl!!!!" It is really tired.. the only funny thing about his show was the opening where he had a mariachi band to spoof chapelle's show..
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=1916313&highlight=mencia#post1916313 It's bidet. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bidet)
I'm pretty sure that was Mencia. Right before that he was taking about how his family ate every part of the chicken and I think he got the penis or ass or something.
You could be right, I just watched "Why You Crying" again the other night and thought he told the joke of his uncle being in the hotel and not knowing what it was for and used it like a toilet.. Anyone else know??
Saw him in Austin a couple of times, and in Houston a couple of times. He is awesome. His humor is kind of tough, saw some people walk out of his show in Austin when he was saying his joke about Christopher Reeves riding a horse. Otherewise, he is funny as hell.
A few years back he came to do a show here at the University. Must have been about 5 or 6 years, but he wasn't that much of a star... so he was cheap to get. I have most of his CD's on MP3s... his funniest is the Afghanistan/Taliban/Miss Hou-hou-loujj CD America Rules. Umm... Christopher Reeve? Christopher Walken? Who is Christopher Walker?
No, actually it was Paul Rodriguez who made the joke about his uncle not knowing what the bidet was for when they were in Paris, it was on the Original Latin Kings of Comedy DVD. Unfortunately Carlos Mencia does not come out on it. Mencia is great in person, saw him at the Laff Stop. I probably didn't hear half the jokes because everyone was laughing so hard.
Though an amazing performer Carlos has been in trouble more than once for lifting someone else's material. I can't remember who, but he actually got into a fist fight with another latino comic about it. I lost repect for Carlos when he fired the manager that rescued him from obscurity, made him MILLIONS and was executive producer of his first comedy special. Carlos is large enough to have done more for the manager than he did, but that's Carlos. On a side note and very popular latino comic, Freddy Soto died last weekend from heart failure. He frequented the Laff Stop, had a special on Comedy Central and was a really cool guy. http://www.latinostandup.com/pages/soto.html +
I thought the first and third shows were good. He is very funny, almost Chapelle like as far as making racial jokes, etc. Pretty funny overall, now Chapelle needs to bring his arse back and start the third damn season already! I guess people start acting like punks when the money rolls in
It's not funny anymore if he stole it and it sounds like he did if at least 2 other people are saying it was a different comic who said the joke. Did he also steal having a grandpa who had to carry his balls?
Just saw a clip where Mencia "randomly" picked a member from the audience to talk to and happened to ask him if he had a tattoo. He did, an obviously fake one of a tribal arm band, Carlos asked him "what tribe are you from, Chad?" I saw him do the same bit, with the same name, years ago. Kind of sad that he has to plant someone in the crowd just to do a bit.
