Great get for them. Admittedly I'm a Tech alum, but I don't understand why he couldn't get more love. Hell of a coach.. not much of a recruiter though.

Probaly a step down from Tech but I dont see him getting a better job than Maryland given his situation.

Sounds like it's a done deal.

This should be fun to watch.

I expected him to get a slightly better job, but he is in a conference where he can lose 4 and go to a BCS bowl, and I'm sure he is getting paid about what he was at Tech.

I was really hoping he would end up at a higher profile school than Maryland but he should do well in the ACC.

would have loved to see him as an OC in the NFL, to see what he could do with elite talent

You can't run that crap in the NFL man. Why do you think elite programs don't give Leach the time of day? His offense allows bad teams to compete, but it also significantly hinders his teams from ever truly contending for a title. Alabama (NFL quality athletes) once held Tech to like 9pts in the Cotton Bowl.

Not doubting you, but what about his style wouldn't work?

What exactly is surprising about NFL quality athletes holding non-NFL quality athletes to 9 points? That would have nothing to do with a system - that would just be more talent beating less talent. As a side note, NFL talent schools like Texas and OU have often struggled on defense against the Leach system.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see Maryland win the ACC next year.

To clarify - I have no idea if his system would work in the NFL. It's a totally different league and there aren't the same types of mismatches to exploit. But there doesn't seem to be any reason that it can't work at the highest levels in college.

For a long time, people said going all-shotgun wouldn't work in the NFL, or the spread was a gimmick in college that couldn't win titles. You just have to do it well with top tier talent and these things can work just fine.

I'm more impressed by Leach's non-NFL quality team holding Alabama's NFL quality athletes to thirteen points that game.

I'm not sure what the difference is in terms of booster support, facilities, and budget, but on the outside, this looks like a lateral move. This is particularly true when you consider TCU moving into the Big East raises their conference profile.

Warmer climate? I don't get it either. He's winning in a BCS conference. The ACC isn't that much better than the Big East...and they might now be equal with TCU coming on board.

good thing they didn't hire Leach

As a TTU student, pretty sad, although the jackass did give us a few years of excitement, he's tarnished his reputation horribly

Sucks cheated and still sucked at recruiting...This seems like a non story...

Tech has their best recruting class I can recall for 2011.

Leach needs to drop the lawsuit before he gets considseration also needs to take an OC job you dont want to be out of the game to long
