LOL. I love Mike James Mike James's comments on the Rockets/Mavericks Playoff series. Avery Johnson's plan in game 7 against the rockets was to stop Mike James... not to stop Tracy Mcgrady, not to stop Yao Ming, but to stop Mike James.
Good thing he is on somebody else's team, this guy's head and ego are too big. He actually said that in the playoffs two years ago when we played Dallas that Avery Johnson's sole game plan was to stop "Mike James" (I hate people who always talk about themselves in third person), not Tracy McGrady, not Yao Ming......"Mike James" was his main concern........ Somebody is smoking something that has gone really bad.... One last thing, this guy really needs to quit starting every sentence with "Mike James" this and "Mike James" that --- try using an "I" once in awhile.... Confidence is one thing, complete arrogance is another...... Glad the Timberpups have him (did not think that I would say that), but they might have to open the top of the arena so they can fit his head in there......
you probably mean third person did he go as far as saying the mavs only pursued mike james this summer to make sure the rockets don't get mike james because the only rocket player their worried about is mike james ?
Dude. Mike James is an entertaining interview. I can't stop cracking up. I think I'm going to have to enroll in one of Mike James's etiquette classes.
rome: what would you do without basketball james: be a criminal, what I find interesting is that he says he thought he could win a championship in minnesota.
There is some truth to his comments about the Mavs series. AJ's game plan was to stop the role players, including MJ, and see if Yao and Tmac could combine to score 100 points. It was a pretty smart strategy because our role players are relatively easy to shut down if you pay some attention to them. Yao and Tmac didn't have enough left, they each scored 30, but they needed to get 40. Avery just told Mike they wanted to shut him down, but they also wanted to shut down Wesley, Sura, and Barry as well.
still not understanding the anti-mike james sentiments on this board the guy is ALL HEART...and i will support the guy whereever he goes unless he's up against the rockets. he's got so much confidence in himself and his game, i love it. EXACTLY what we needed. sigh
I love MJ's interviews because they are unique and sometimes he makes a complete fool of himself. In addition to some sprinklings of truth, some of what he says is so riduculous you can't help but laugh at him. Every time I hear him it makes me feel better he chose Minny.
I only caught the end of it, did anyone record it? The final quote was great: "I thank God for everything I've got, everything I am, and everything I'm not."
Funny how he gets away with saying all of this. First from boxing, to signing a 1 yr deal and maxing out after he becomes MVP, skydiving, etc. If this were to come out of Ron Artest's mouth, everyone would be calling him nuts. Artest has been MUCH more low key than Mike James the past year. Kinda crazy....
I don't see why this is so unbelievable to some of you. Mike James was wreaking havoc all series long. Dallas wasn't going to stop Yao and McGrady. Why not focus on stopping James which is a much easier task?
Not really. He had some good games and they didn't stop him when he was on. But it's quite a stretch to say he wreaked havoc the whole series. Didn't happen.
No offense, but first thing first, it really has nothing to do with what he said as much as with how he said it. He was not saying that the Mavericks were going to let Yao and Tracy have theirs, while they try and stop everybody else from scoring, including himself, or as he would say, "including Mike James." Secondly, I really doubt there is a coach out there that actually would say they are arranging their whole game plan around one player, especially if that player is a bench player.
let me see, you just compared a guy who has never been in trouble to a guy who caused a riot at an nba game, who asked his coach for time off during the season to record a rap album. now who's crazy?
