I know it's preseason but man, Mike James was going out his way just to get a shot off. I hope he tones it down next week. Was I the only one that noticed?

Agreed, although Stevie Francis was even worse.

It's hard not to notice. He had already taken 13 shots in the first q when the rest of the team was 0 for 7. That's ridiculous.

Another thing that is ridiculous is that he had zero assists.

... stroke it from long distance.

If it wasn't preseason I would like to think that he would have been benched immediately. With our depth at guard there's no reason for Adelman not to. Hopefully Mike will review the tapes and come to his senses even though his career performance and attitude suggests otherwise.

ditto that. the game could have been won if stevie made more passes at the end of the game. i hope adelman sees that. it sucks we had to cut mike harris to keep that idiot on the team.

So it's not that Rafer is so good....it's just that the other options are actually worse?

I thought we all wanted more scoring options. but now Rafer isn't playing there aren't many assisting machines eh? A funny paradox.

mike james and steve francis= ballhogs

    and yes it frustrates Tmac

that one fast break where Tmac busted his butt to get to the rim and James just kept the ball and scored when he had Tmac open... if he had not scored he would have gotten the Tmac stare down.

hopefully, he will come off the bench

He didn't take over till the 4th when he was with the scrubs. When he played with the regular rotation, he was trying to make plays and playing within the offense. Yeah his shot wasn't falling at first but he kept us in the game. In OT, he made 3 ast that were HUGE. Steve had 5 ast and 1 Turnover, while Mike James had 0 ast and 4 Turnovers.

I don't see how Francis was worse with "ball hogging" than MJ. Worst shot maybe but he played a better PG than James.

Hence the reason Rafer Alston will start and Mike James will come off the bench and hit those pretty jumpers all he wants. It is nice to see someone create an open shot for themselves. But unfortunately for Mike it proved he will be better suited coming off the bench so Yao and Tmac can get involved early which is what happens when Rafer is starting.

After thinking, this wouldn't be that bad at all. Think of last season, we had Head and Alston on the floor together, with Head as the gunner and Alston as the playmaker, I don't see any reason why James can't replace Head's role last season a scorer, and a more flexible one as well. I wouldn't mind this sort of lineup in the middle of games:

    Yao
    Scola/Hayes
    Wells
    James
    Alston

and then Head can be the pg of the second unit.

mike james had to do, what he had to do. when you have battier, yao, francis (first half), and other players going 1-8, 1-5, etc, you might as well score, especially when you're on fire.

francis was not a ball hog. who would you want to have the ball? luther? he had 2 charges in a row. novak? he can't do squat, except for shooting. again, francis had to do something, and he did the right choice.

mike james and steve francis... did the right thing last game.

Steve made some good plays and found Novak open a few times at the end. Not his fault Novak missed, maybe you should be cryin about how we should have kept Jacobson over Novak since he was actually hitting his three's. Steve's doing his job and if your implying we should have kept Harris over Francis then I know who the real idiot is. Don't act like you didn't get excited when Steve made those hard lay-ups driving the lane with the foul. If you didn't your just a stubborn Francis hater that is hoping and waiting for him to do bad. 14/5/5 in 31 preseason minutes along with some good defense is not bad. Yes, he fouled out but with this team he can do that. I expect our players this year to give up more GOOD fouls. It sux we had to give up a good player like Harris but don't degrade Francis to his level and call him an idiot for playing a good game. You don't even know what your talking about if you think Steve wasn't making passes at the end when he DID make passes at the end!?!? Were you paying attention or just watching the game? If there is any pg you should be mad at for not passing itz mike james. Who? Mike James! U know, who this threads about! Anyway, I'm not mad because itz preseason! and t-mac and yao will be out there in OT's when the regular season starts. I just really think you need to get off SF3's gonads, he's gonna be a big part to this teams championship run!
