You remeber when all those ESPN "experts" ripped the Raptors for selecting Charlie Villanueva so high. He is a stud. He has 26 points right now and 10 rebounds.
He's a very good player, but he has a bit of the Drew Gooden syndrome. Drew is just as talented, but they are a little bit off. Both of them are very nice guys though
are you implying that he should have passed instead of shot 14-21 and 6-10 and if so who do you think he should have passed to on that oh so talented Raptor squad?
Numbers one losing time are always going look better than they are. Remeber when Stackhouse lead the league in scoring on a horrible Pistons team.
Maybe that oh so talented Raptors squad would be doing better if James was averaging more then 4 assists per game as the main option.
because pass first point guard Alston led them to the playoffs last year? Oh that's right, they sucked, just like now. Blaming the state of that team on Mike James is beyond stupid.
No one blamed their team on Mike James. He was just pointing out he's still the shoot-first, pass-later "PG" we knew. What's wrong with that?
And he was averaging a Hall of Fame-worthy 8 points and three rebounds in 26 minutes per game before then. I don't defend SAS often, but it was moronic to draft CV with Bosh already playing his position -- especially when Bosh brings it every night, and CV brings it once a week. Chris shot under 40 percent in the preseason trying to learn how to play next to CV.
i like mike james but he's taking WAY TOO many shots for a starting PG. they need to get more shots for bosh. he's scoring well, which he has always done but he isn't creating shots for others or facilitating at all. as far as villanueva. yeah, he has a ton of talent, that's not the question. it's consistency and where he fits in with a stud like bosh. they play a very similar game and the same exact position. the raptors could have gotten a need, like a guard or center, but went with another PF. that's just dumb. and charlie will have some terrific games but he won't do that every night. he'll probably go out and put up like 6 pts. and 4 reb. next time out, watch. he did it at UConn all the time.
I wouldn't bash James for being too shot-happy. I'm rewatching the game right now, and he probably played at least 25 of his 40 minutes at off guard with Calderon running the show. Mitchell just about had it with Rose.
I don't think he was just pointing it out, I think its obvious he was being critical with the "and another loss" comment.
all i'm saying is that you have chris bosh and jalen rose on your team and you feel you should take the majority of the shots???? sorry. they are the first two options. then mike james. i'm glad HE is playing well but he sure isn't leading his team to wins...
And all I'm saying is a guy shouldn't be criticized for after shooting 67 percent from the field, 60% from three range. And if your argument is he should have been passing to NBA mega stars Rose and Bosh, I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree. Sometimes you guys get to caught up in who should be shooting, who should be passing and etc. You know who should be shooting in an NBA game? The guy shooting 67 freakin percent from the field. This reminds me of people who used to criticize Jordan for taking too many shots and he's a career 50% shooter. I swear, if some of you guys were around when Wilt went for 100, some of you would have been saying, "yeah, but that's way too many shots".
