Where do you see his career going over the next year or two? After a few games of "getting comfortable", he seemed to gain some confidence and really hustle under the boards, but where would his minutes come from? I think the guy has a future....just don't know if he's gonna have it with the Rox. I hope we can keep grooming him. I think he's gonna be a player.

Well he was a baller in RICE... and he did have a few decent games here and there but the fact hes 25 (I think) and the fact that hes an undersized PF or a slow SF doesnt really give him much options

He did outplay Landry prior to the NBA season. So he may have potential. He is strong and athletic. I think he could be better than our Chuck Hayes (he is already a way better finisher). He seems to rely on his athleticism for defense and rebounds. Overall, I think he should be back.

I like Mike Harris. However, Morey, please draft Richard Hendrix to replace him.

Richard Hendrix is the next Carl Landry. Trust me.

Apparently he had a great workout here in Houston and I hope we are able to trade for one of Minnesota's 2nd rounders to select him.

I think that carrying Landry, Hayes, and Harris is redundant. I'd like to see Hayes moved as a piece in a package. I like him, but we've seen his ceiling and Harris could improve.

do we need Jimi Hendrix then? I mean, if we already have Landry?

I really want a hyper athletic wing who can score the ball before yet another undersized big.

on topic, I like Harris, needs to develop a consistent jumpshot and I'm happy with keeping him in a deep rotation.

did we sign him for next year only - or the next two seasons?

If Mike Harris doesn't learn to hit from 12-15 feet, he will never be anything more than a 12th-15th man. Also needs a floor game (like slashing).

I think it all depends if Mike can develop a dribble-drive game so he can play minutes at the three. Landry and Scola are already the future at the 4 position. But I see a lot of Corliss Williamson in Harris. Both are tweeners, but play bigger than their size and are pretty mobile. When Corliss played for Adelman, he could put the ball on the floor and score pretty effectively; Mike could develop a similar game to suit Adelman's system. But at this point he's the 5th or 6th person off the bench, so I'd be willing to trade him along with others for a player who can help us.

Yeah I know we've got plenty of depth already at PF. But Mike Harris is going to be waived/traded and Chuck is probably going to be traded too.

When the talent and potential is on the table to be taken like Richard Hendrix you take it. Especially if you can get him for cheap in the second round.

Believe me, Hendrix would be a first-rounder if it wasn't for this years ultra deep draft.

Chuck would be worth something on the trade market. And there isn't really any good wings projected to go in the 2nd round. This year its all about the big men. PF/C is really deep this year.

they signed him to a guarenteed contract, so they must be fairly certain he can help.

I hope the guy develops a perimeter game. I think he is more than athletic enough to guard most SF and many of the SG in the game. I would imagine he is also stronger than every SG and all but a few SF in the game.

If he could model his defensive game after Battier and develop a perimeter shot and the ability to at least get to the rim effective from 15 feet in then I think he could become a member of the rotation as maybe the 7th or 8th guy off the bench.

I just don't see any room for him. Starting spots are basically locked and its possible that either our rookie and/or FA signing will get significant time. Harris and Novak seem to be the odd men out unless they make drastic improvements in their game. If they do get time, it will be limited.

The 08-09 season isn't guaranteed for Mike.

I do think that, barring trades, he will have to make the team again come pre-season (which is the only reason I have held out on buying his jersey). He seems to be a very hard worker and has some talent and athleticism.

I agree with the poster that said he has a better chance of getting spot minutes at the 3, if he can hold up defensively and improve his perimeter shooting.

That being said, it all depends on what Magical Morey has up his sleeve as far as trades. If we do a multi-player trade for a bigger contract then it will be easier for him to make the final roster. If we don't, and most of the guys from last year are still here, he's going to have to fight whoever we draft for one of the last roster spots.

Bottom line, if he wants minutes on the Rockets, he is going to need to develop his outside jumpshot. He basically is the SF version of Chuck Hayes (without the D), and as a SF, that isn't that great.

I love Mike Harris' effort and heart but I just don't see him playing well in the NBA.

He would be pretty good PF, but he is not tall enough. He is more of a sf, but his midrange game is not great. Right now I belive that is his biggest problem

Cut him , yhe got a lot of chances and didn't show enough.
He was good at pf and crappy at sf , we have enough 4's.

He had a monster preseason and I loved his game. I was disappointed that we cut him and pumped when we resigned him.

However, when he did get minutes he was little more than a decent husltle player. He really needs to develop his offensive game if he wants to stay in the league.

I'm on the fence on whether or not I would like him to be on the roster next year. No way if he plays like he did last regular season
