Jordan Dodging Number One Bullet Wizards president Michael Jordan has seen enough. There is plenty of talent in this year's draft. And Jordan wants none of it with the number one pick. Two league sources confirmed to sportsTALK yesterday that Jordan and the Wizards have been actively shopping their number one pick around the league in hopes of landing a young point guard. Jordan has reportedly tried to pry away Cleveland's Andre Miller and sources say Jordan has also spoken to the Vancouver Grizzlies about Mike Bibby. It appears unlikely that the Cavs and Grizzlies will part with Miller or Bibby, and the Wizards are now talking with several teams about trading the number one pick in an attempt to get two mid to late lottery picks instead. One source told sportsTALK that Jordan has become enamored with Iowa State point guard Jamaal Tinsley. Jordan watched Tinsley work out in LA and has invited him back to D.C. for a workout after the pre-draft camp in Chicago. Jordan likes Tinsley's grit and floor leadership and feels he may have some of the same intangibles that Andre Miller brings to Cleveland. Jordan has talked with the Celtics, Pistons and Cavs about swapping picks. Another league source told sportsTALK that Jordan has also had preliminary conversations with the New Jersey Nets that would send Richard Hamilton to the Nets for their 7th pick in the draft and a Nets future number one pick. Jordan is likely to target Charlotte freshman Rodney White with that pick. Jordan was seen White workout twice and, according to the source, has fallen in love. It's possible that Jordan could execute both deals and draft both White and Tinsley while picking up a pair of future number one picks. Jordan is also expected to make a run at Clipper free-agent point guard Jeff McInnis this summer. McInnis spent one season with the Wizards before joining the Clippers. Talk of Jordan trading away Hamilton and wanting to add a traditional point guard to the roster is only fueling speculation that Jordan is planning to retool the Wizards for a possible comeback next summer. http://204.202.129.224/nba/ ------------------
If we had Van's #6 pick, maybe we would've had a chance at the #1 pick too. Actually, I would be happy just to have Van's #6 pick. If Jordan deals with NJ, that would screw up our chance for #7 pick.
If Mike keeps the pick, I have a 99% guarantee that the will take Griffin. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
Still think Battier is the best player for Washington to take at #1. Especially if Jordan returns.... ------------------
If Jordan does comeback, what would be the deadline for him to sell his shares of the team? ------------------
I don't think Hamilton is worth two #1's. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
