Well my 2000 Jetta may have bit the big one. Driving it home a few weeks back and it died at highway speeds. Pulled over to the shoulder and it wouldn't restart. Towed it to the mechanic and then it would start and idle fine. [odd]. Mechanic replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump. Seemed OK. Drove it again, freeway speeds. Ker-Put. Towed it back to mechanic, started again. Just replaced the Camshaft sensor and it died with the mechanic driving it around. He thinks it may be the computer itself. That would be too expensive to replace on a car with 114K miles on it. May have to bite the bullet, take what I can for a trade in and get another car. To top it all off I got a coupon for $500 off a new VW in the mail. It's like they knew. NEVER AGAIN VW!!! You suck!!!! I hate you!!!!! Looking for a Honda or Hyundai. /between the lines that should read RELIABLE and LONG WARRANTY/ Any suggestions?
new honda civic hybrids look promising. I plan to trade in my veyron for a prius or insight within the next few months. What does scully think you should get though?
Funny you mention that. I have seriously considered a Honda Oddossy (sp?). My friend bought one and got them to put in all leather interior. It was nice. But I don't have any kids so it would kind of be a waste.
Why would one put in a leather interior in a minivan, especially if you have kids? Does he have kids? You can do that, you don't have kids. What are you suppose to with a mini van?
you can get a camry for less than 20K including tax and you can't get a more dependable if not boring car. It also get good gas mileage and you can actually put people in the back seat.
I guess you've never had to wipe spit up or formula off the seats of your car. Much easier if you have leather.
A Honda will last a lot longer than a Hyundai in my opinion. The new Civics and Accords are pretty nice, I think there is also special incentives if you buy a Hybrid.
I had a 2001 Honda Accord that had the same problem. It would just stop while I'm driving on the interstate. I started filling it up with premium gas and that seemed to fix the problem for a while. I'd say about 2 months later, it stopped on me again. It was under warranty at the time, so I took it back to the dealership. To make a long story short, I was in and out of the dealership for 3 months. They never figured out what was really wrong with the car (new computer did not fix it). I went to the Toyota dealership, and traded it in for a 2005 Camry.
Bought it in May 2000. Drove a lot between Austin & Houston. Now live on the North side and drive downtown everyday. Leaning towards the CR-V.
Quick word of warning -- if you buy a minivan and you don't have kids, you may have to forfeit your penis. If you *really* want a van, do it right ...
I've been a Toyota fan for a long time. The're great cars. Two months ago, I bought a brand new Toyota Sienna (minivan) for my wife. Fantastic car.
