to me,i think we'll be better at the 4 spot than the 3.i think he can be much more effective there.even though there are a lot of big 3's in the west, they are all perimeter off the dribble types.i think if he starts there he could get in foul trougle there.peja,lewis,dirk,lamar,marion,marshall,jamison.these guys are quick and long,6'10 or taller except marion.i think langhi could man that 3 spot and let mo go.morris could back up that 3 spot, and kt back up the 4 spot and cato back up hakeem for 2 years.after,we make a run at duncan and have 5 legit threats on the floor at the same time.let see a team match that.

Griffin would get slaughtered at the 4, he doesn't have the weight to play that position. I say leave him at the 3 spot.

Getting slaughtered at the 4 is nothing new. Have we already forgotten Sir Chalres?

KG doesn't have the weight to play the 4... but he does.

just cause someone is skinny does not mean he is not strong.. KG actually does hold other powerforwards using his strength..
I don think eddie has KG's strength yet..

He'll play the three now, sliding to the four periodically. He's only 19 so he's going to put on weight/muscle.I would think he will make his living in the post and from 15 feet in down the road. The beauty of Eddie is he should be able to play the three too....all kinds of match up problems...and can't you already see the go to potential in this guy down the stretch?..wanting the ball in the post and knocking down late J's.Throw in Eddie's shotblocking instincts and combine that with his athletic ability and people are going to talk even more about how we stole this future star.

He clearly is not strong enough to play the 4 consistently but I would play him there 5 minutes a game to start the season. He is also suspect out on the floor defensively. But the end of the season he will be playing both spots.

His shooting range and stroke is as good as any of the rookies I have seen. I am concerned about his emotions or lack there of. Also he leaves his feet too much. Outstanding shot blocker though.

KG holds forwards using his height and quickness, not his strength.

Griffin looks much more like a 4/5 type guy than a 3/4 type guy. He also seems like a Shandon and Mo kinda guy in the way he seems to disappear on the floor.

You guys that say Griffin will play the 3 have obviously not been watching him play.

He has a 4's game. Low post block, back to the basket player who can get out in transition.

I will put money on him getting the majority of his minutes at the 4 spot this year.

He does not have the handles to play the 3.

I think Walt starts...UGH pains me to say that, and Langhi will back him up as 6th man, with TMo getting a minute here or there.

MO T will start at PF with Griffin and KT backing him up.

    Hakeem or Cato at Center.

Thank YOU DaDakota! I was puzzled to read all this stuff about Griffin playing the 3 spot. He doesn't dribble well enough and he's just not quick enough to hang out on the perimeter. He does need to get stronger but what 19 year old has an NBA body already? He strikes me as a talented Rasheed Wallace type player, but without the fire unfortunately.

Well, if we're not going to make any blockbuster FA moves (besides signing our own guys), then I'd be happy if Walt suffered a season ending hangnail injury, which allowed Langhi and T. Morris to get the majority of the SF minutes.

Griff needs to develop his handles in order to play the 3... plain and simple as that.

I was impressed with his shooting touch though, so that will probably qualify him enough to play a sort of perimeter game till his handles come around.

I'd still rather have him than Shandon at the 3.

At the 4, he would do well doing spot duty, depending on who is in. His shotblockin and rebounding are impressive, but he needs more muscle to bang against the tru 4's. Most likely, we will just see a combination of mostly 3/4, with a bit of 5 here and there this season.

Griffin doesn't have the weight to be a full-time PF, he'll play spot minutes against certain matchups, but he'll probably play the bulk of his minutes at the 3 until he physically bulks up.

Barkley never got slaughtered at the 4! Other then a few matchups with Karl Malone Barkley usually killed the opposing PFs.

I think Barkley was probably the best 4 we've had, considering the fact that he could be argued to be the best 4 ever, at least top 5.

barkley was the best pf we ever had. Griffen is not in his class, esp not yet.

Griff will be a 3 this year.

BahDakota - Griffin cannot play the 4, yet. He was getting pushed around tonight. We already have one soft 4. Quit your dreaming.

I agree w/ your accessment except for the Rasheed comparison. When Rasheed was 19 his ballhandling and overall perimeter offense was much farther along than Eddie's. For some reason I just keep thinking Duncan whenever I watch Eddie play [IMG]

The NBA is so much more physical than it was in 1980. There is no way Sampson could average 22 pts per game.
