Might as well offer another trade proposal

    How about:

    Yao Ming and Moochie

    the Clips for

    Elton Brand and Andre Miller?

I know something would have to be worked out with signing them to contracts, but

    Miller
    Francis
    Posey
    Brand
    Cato

Would be a dynamite lineup. I would definately make that trade.

I don' think Yao will be traded. If he doesn't improve after next season, a trade might come up but I am willing to bet that he will be the next Tim Duncan with 7'6" size.

    How about

    Houston trades

    Steve Francis
    Eddie Griffin
    Glen Rice

    Houston gets

    Elton Brand
    Gary Payton

    Clippers trade

    Elton Brand

    Clippers get

    Steve Francis

    Milwaukee trades

    Gary Payton

    Milwaukee gets

    Eddie Griffin
    Glen Rice
    Clippers protected first rounder

    That would be nice.

I think Payton's value has gone down since his old team is better without him and his new team did worse with him. Plus he's only around for another two years as a good player so I'd rather have Miller and pair him with SF.

Miller and Francis don't like each other really, and I don't want to take on someone like Miller citing the way he's played this season on a talented team. Clippers fans say he holds on to the ball way too much, forces way too many shots, and relies heavily on luck.

Payton has a good 2 years left in him, and possibly a decent 3rd year. Also, his experience and defense are the 2 MAIN reasons for bringing him here, as well as being knows as a good mentor, and having played in a backcourt with another PG, that will help Steve develop even further.

Right now, we need older players like Payton who are still hungry, and will improve our backcourt. Payton would be a PERFECT fit here.

Maybe once he finds out that he'll be on a team featuring Yao Ming, Elton Brand, and Steve Francis, he'll change his mind and come here.

Wed probably have to add a Cato for Kukoc swap to make some space at SF for the Bucks, and save some cash for us in the long run.

I am convinced. This team NEEDS Payton.

How's Payton going to play with Francis if Francis was traded for him? :)
    You must have mis-typed! ;)

    Deckard,

That's what you get for trying to post on the BBS, write a sample research proposal, and peer-edit someone else's essay at the same time.

Either way, this team cannot stay out of the playoffs and has an inside presence at least as good as the Lakers and the Spurs:

    Ming
    Brand
    whoever (Posey, T-Mo or Boki)
    Mobley
    Payton

Since I'm dreaming, I'd try to package Mobley with either MoT or Moochie or Cato if we still have him. Get rid of big contracts, and get complimentary players. Regardless, that team is defensively BRILLIANT, and offensively unstoppable. Why? Because Payton and Brand are 2 of the most consistent offensive weapons in the league, and Yao Ming is close to that status. None of those guys are streaky, allowing for Posey to being his streaky shooting and energy to the 3 spot. Payton would rule with that kind of inside rpesence, and Ming/Brand would rule with someone like Payton passing them the ball.

I doubt Mobley would be able to co-exist with that line-up, and he would be willing to leave since Steve would be gone. Derek Anderson is available, and either Desmond Mason or Micheal Redd are also better options at the 2.

One thing is for sure. There must be a roster overhaul, and all acquisitions must support the Francis/Yao or Brand/Yao core franchise players.

This is the trade that I would proposed:

    Cat/Griffin for Elton Brand.

Cato for an awsome sg/sf shooter like Michael Redd.

    Team would look like this:

    Francis
    Posey
    Rice
    Brand
    Yao

    Backup:

    Moochie
    Shooter (Redd)
    Nachbar
    Morris
    Taylor

I like, I like. :D But I'd go the inside-outside rout with two great players -- Yao/Francis. That's the best way to go.

ok.. here goes the dream trade... we trade what ever it takes to get the #2 pick in the draft so we can get drako milicic... sure he is young and needs to put on wieght like yao. but if we do some how get him we will have yao at center drako at PF and hopefully boki(if he is still here) will knock down the open jumper at the 3 spot.. sure it will be about 3-4 years for these guys to mature enough to be super duper stars(maybe longer) but i think it might be worth it... then all we would need is a pg who can drive & pass(maybe steve will learn how to more often) and a 2 guard that can pass and shoot the open jumper(maybe steve will learn how to this one better)

im sure someone will say im a dope. but then again its all about throwing ideas out to see what happens. and by the way milicics better suited to be a PF than a C, he wieghs about 240. and he wants his game to be like KG... you never know.. he might be the next yugo dude that can ball like a mutha

OKay. And people were saying my trade was bad...getting proven vets for young guys with unlimited potential.
But what the hell. I still like my ideas. :)
    Gary Payton...uhh...hmm...wait..uhh
    So your trade.

Rockets give up Steve Francis, Eddie Griffin, and Glen Rice. About $24.4 million gone. Incoming is Gary Payton and Elton Brand...AT LEAST $26 million.

Clippers give up Elton Brand. Who will be making the same amount...probably...as Steve Francis. I don't know why they would want Steve instead of Elton...but who knows?!? Steve Francis and Andre Miller! And Lamar Odom!

Milwaukee trades Gary Payton! Who should be making around what Francis makes. But the thing is...I don't think the Bucks want him. And I don't think Payton wants to return. But maybe sign and trade. They get Eddie and Rice...who combine for $11.4 million.

So many wrong things with this. For Rockets. Great. Fantastic. Awesome. Gary Payton...one of the best point guards ever. Elton Brand...a consistent inside presence.

Clippers get Francis. But why?!? They already have Miller...unless they don't resign him. They don't really gain anything from the trade. Brand is better than Francis. I have no idea. We would have to add a pick in the trade or something.

Bucks get...Eddie Griffin and Glen Rice? First...there is already Michael Redd, Desmond Mason, Toni Kukoc, Tim Thomas, Anthony Mason, Marcus Haislip, and Dan Gadzuric. Now two more forwards? After Glen retires..they will have plenty of cash to get a good player.

I wish this would happen. :)

But I also like dduong's ideas...which were originally Sane's idea. Cuttino Mobley and Eddie Griffin for Elton Brand and Quentin Richardson or Chris Wilcox. Then Kelvin Cato and Bostjan Nachbar for Toni Kukoc and Michael Redd.

Then sign Jon Barry or Eric Piatkowski.

    How lovely.

    Nope. Never gonna happen.

    Well back to dreaming.
GOD. Payton running the offense with a Yao Ming and Elton Brand?!? Woohoo...
On defense?!? The Golden Glove...one of the league's best rebounders and shotblockers...and a 7'6" guy in the middle? That would be wonderful.
