Has anyone noticed how tight the competition is in the Midwest Division? In other divisions, there's a huge gap between first and last place, but in the Midwest (as of 12/21/03), last place Utah is out of first place (San Antonio) by only 3.5 games. Win - Loss - Percentage - Games Behind San Antonio: 19 - 10 - .655 Minnesota: 17 - 9 - .654 - 0.5 Denver: 16 - 11 - .593 - 2.0 Dallas: 15 - 11 - .577 - 2.5 Memphis: 15 - 11 - .577 - 2.5 Houston: 15 - 11 - .577 - 2.5 Utah: 14 - 12 - .538 - 3.5 Do you think it's going to be like this all season long? Or will everything start to fall in place a couple of weeks after the All-Star Break?
IMO, probably going to be tight down to the final games. The teams falling by the wayside will be those that fatigue (physically and mentally), have unexpected major injuries, or benefitted early on from relatively easy schedules.
kenny smith once said after 20 games you know who you are. so at this point of the season i can only expect these teams to play the same way the rest of the season. the trick is gona be edgin out he grizz, nugs, and mavs or the #5 spot. if we finnish in 6th, 7th, or 8th we are gonna get swept for sure by the lakers, kings, and spurs.
I believe 6 of the 7 teams in that division will make the Playoffs...WHY? Cuz I think ONLY Lakers and Kings make it through in the other division. Portland, Seattle, Phoenix. They're aweful! So Rox should be able to get in the Playoffs.
