Here is the article from ESPN Minnesota Timberwolves guard Felipe Lopez will miss the season after tearing a ligament in his left knee. Lopez injured the knee in the first quarter of Saturday night's 95-83 exhibition loss to the Boston Celtics in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lopez charged into Boston's Paul Pierce and twisted awkwardly. An MRI done Sunday revealed that his medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments are torn. There is no way Minnesota can do better they most likely will not have there starting PG most of the year there #1 backup PG from last year left, there best Bench player is now out all year and Wally is always hurt.
I want to go to the playoffs as bad as the next guy, but at the expense of some guy having a season ending surgery is not how I hope we do it. Just so the karma gods don't get their panties in a knot, I'm going to state for the record, as a Rockets fan, that I think its really too bad the Minnesota guard was hurt because now Yao or Eddie will have to wait a year to swat Felipe's potentially game winning shot into the third row.
I'll reserve comment until we can prove any sort of ability to stay healthy ourselves. So far, we haven't impressed in that capacity.
Although Szczerbiak is currently hurt, he has only missed 9 games in his 3 year career and all those occurred in his rookie season. The last two years he has played in every game.
At this juncture, I too will take the high road and wish Lopez a speedy and complete recovery. A true fan of the game does not wish for players to get hurt. We can leave that to the gridiron fans.
Thats not cool man. I also wish the guy a speedy recovery. I hate the Puppies as much as the next guy, but being happy when someone potentially has a career threatening injury is very juvenile.
100% on the $. off topic - Not sure if it's by injury or by design but the preseaon TWolves lineup has Nesterovic at C, KG at SF and Loren Woods is starting at PF!
Besides, you want to beat a team at their best, not because one of their star player is out hurt. I want the Rockets to beat the Lakers with Shaq and Yao to eventually shut him up.
I am not happy that he is injured, but I sure as hell did not see anybody(other teams) hoping for a fast recovery last season for all of our injuries. All you ever here is you guys suck and you only won 28 games now it is turned around and why not it takes those lucky breaks to be playoff team.
Lopez makes a difference? C'mon. Get real. Sorry he's hurt but it balances no power anywhere else. Maybe they'll sign Jimmy Jackson and the Rox'll be in reallll trouble. Oooooo.
The West has gotten very weak below the top 4 spots. If Robinson shows no improvement, I think even the Spurs may drop a notch. They'll be 4th, but not by far.
I'm sorry for Lopez but I have to agree with DUCK2324 on this statement. The guy has a point and I have to acknowledge that.
you never ever want to hear of a guy getting hurt but based on his past play i don't view lopez as all that integral to the t-wolves. basically they're a downgrade from what they were last year anyways so the rocks have a legit shot of moving ahead of them.
The Division got easier when Terence Morris went down. Add in the Felipe Lopez injury and the East is catching up fast.
