I bought microsoft office and installed it onto my laptop and the product key on the box isn't working.... i am trying to do this for my wife for school and i'm not very computer smart!!! If anyone can give me some insight on what i need to do or have any additional information that could help me it would be much appreciative!!
I would assume it's 2007, and not XP or 2003, since they're more than 4 years old. I hope it's not a pirated or previously-used one. That won't work. XBLRocketman111, does your code-entry screen look like this? EDIT (spoilerd'd it) Spoiler We're trying to figure out what you could be doing wrong. If you want to capture the error message only, it's ALT+PrntScrn for the dialog box alone. Do you know how to post the image here from ImageShack or another image service?
"A couple"? That can't be right. How did you buy the software without a legit code? I'm afraid we can't help with a non-legit version and if MS finds out we do, they'll come after us with the FBI. EDIT: It's either Office XP or Office 2003 (not both), so I am guessing you're installing office 2003 on an XP PC?
NO NO NO the one on the box didn't work and so i called my cousin and he talked to some of his comp. friends and got 2 from them to try.
Nevermind i got it to work it has to be in caps lock shows you how computer smart i am!!! thatnks guys for your help anyways!!
This is the 2003 code screen: Spoiler This is the XP code screen: Spoiler Type the code in WITHOUT the dashes on the code from the box.
Crazy question, but if the key isn't working, why wouldn't calling Microsoft be the first step? Heck, ya paid that much for it - make them work for it. When "Ralph" answers the phone, ask him how the weather in India is while you're at it.
Ummm... weird... all of a sudden it worked, and with the CAPS LOCK? That shouldn't matter. What's up, XBL? This is FISHY, man. It's so fishy my cats are next to my computer right now.
The one on the box is the only one that is going to work. They have volume license keys that only work with volume license disks, OEM keys that only work with OEM disks, international keys that only work with international disks, and many more possible variations If they were willing to give you the key from 'comp friends' you are using a volume license and a retail disk or it is a 'blacklisted' key that has been passed around a million times and no longer works. If it is not a volume license key, nobody with an ounce of sense would possibly share it if it hadn't been blacklisted already. In any case, the box key is the only one that will work, and in fact is the only one that you have legitimate license to.
I have no clue man my cuz told me to use caps lock from one of his buddies and it works for some strange reason!! It was the 2nd one swoly-D
Maybe i was just putting it in wrong but damn i was sure i was putting them in correctly! 25 letters are way to aggravating for the average MAN!!!
