I have a Shure Beta 58 that is starting to smell bad from so many nights of drinking and singing. Does anyone know a good way to safely clean a microphone or at least freshen it up a bit?

    Yeah.

Unscrew the head off of it. Take the foam part out. Scrub the head with disinfectant. Run the foam part under your sink, squeeze it dry. Screw it back in.

You should also clean the metal ball at the top with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab.

I know quite a few singers that bring that combination with them to gigs for disinfectant.

Thanks - I was just worried that I would do something that may ruin the foam.

Nah, just make sure it's dry when you put it back in.
