Michelle Obama abandoned protocol with Queen of England

    Protocol seems to be dispensed with when the Obamas come to town.

    Michelle Obama and the Queen slipped their arms around each other towards the end of a reception at Buckingham Palace held in honor of the G20 leaders and their wives.

    The president and his wife appeared very relaxed in the company of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh from the start.

    By the end of the evening, the two women were standing side by side and appeared to be chatting about their height difference. As they moved closer and continued to chat, the Queen put her hand on the back of Mrs. Obama, who did the same for a few moments. Before she departed, the Mrs. Obama told the Queen: "I really enjoyed our meeting."

    It had been considered a breach of protocol to touch the Queen. When the former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating put his arm around the Queen in 1992, he was branded the "Lizard of Oz". When his successor, John Howard, was accused of doing the same, a spokesman insisted: "We firmly deny that there was any contact whatsoever."

    Presents were exchanged between the heads of state. Obama gave the Queen an iPod containing a video of her visit to Virginia, Washington, in 2007. In return, he received a signed photograph of the royal couple.

    Never knew this. But now thinking back, it does seem that all photos taken with the queen did not involve any contact.

    Was the queen herself offended?

    The queen initiated the contact. It doesn't really sound that bad to me.

    Seriously speaking, who gives a fark about the Queen and the 'protocol' applied to her.

    Can't touch her? Why not? Leprosy?

    typical Fixed News spin.

    the spin is to equate men touching the queen vs. a woman touching the queen (instinctively in response to the queen touch her first)

    Fox fixed its news reporting to omitt the more complete description of the mutual display of affectionate by both the Queen and the first lady

    What is hilarious and sad at the same time is that Team Vanity (Barack Mugabe Obama) gave a gift to the Queen of an Ipod loaded with his own speeches on it. How vain can one get? Honestly, even The_Conquistador, who proudly flaunts his God-given treasures, would know not to do something with such a lack of humility. I guess they didn't have time to go to the Sears photo studio and pick up some glamour shots of Michelle with wind blowing through her hair.

    You do know the Queen's standard gift, right?

    You do know that she asked for an iPod, right?

    You do know that the iPod had video of the Queen's last visit to the US and a host of Broadway tunes, right?

    You know that in addition to the iPod, the Obamas gave the queen a rare Rodgers and Hart songbook autographed by Richard Rodgers, right?
