Well, I can imagine a tent over Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia, so I'm going to stick with hilarious.
I'd say it's ~99% he will be out by Memorial Day. A better one would be Income Tax Day or April Fool's Day.
I for one will be sending a letter of support for Steele to the RNC. I urge all Democrats to do the same.
He was the GOP's token Black guy all along, and he became the RNC chair in a reactionary move following Obama's success. He was finished long before this.
If nothing else, this might help him get into Katon Dawson's country club. Snickering aside, this really will test how large a GOP tent exists. Looking from the outside, I thought they marginalized Pro-Choicers as badly as the Log Cabins. (Anyone else remember how swiftly Lieberman and Tom Ridge were shot down for McCain's VP, because of the choice issue?) I expect outrage, followed by another round of media self-flagellation by Steele.
What is the big fuss about what he has to say? Just because you are pro-life does not make you a republican nor does pro-choice make you democratic. Both parties will continue to fail if we allow everything to be black and white. Every human is different, from the physical aspect to the mental aspect. Why, when it comes to politics, do we have to conform only to two sides?
If you honestly believe the chairman of the RNC can be pro-choice, you don't know much. It doesn't matter if most registered Republicans are pro-choice or not. Everything is NOT black and white but a lot is. A lot of true independents, like myself, despise both parties. One of the main reasons is intolerance for independent thought.
I don't think for a second that the chairman of the RNC can be pro-choice as it is now, but I wouldn't trust anyone who follows the party line on every single issue. Abortion is not a black and white issue. I completely agree with you on this.
Posting from my cell phone: There are democrats who are consevitive on econmic issues in washington, but there are not many republicans who are republicans who are liberal on issues like this. The democratic party is a lot more diverse which gives it more flexibility.
Very true, which is why the Dems are the majority party right now and will be for quite some time. Most "liberal" Republicans in Congress were purged long ago and there is no prospect of them returning. The Dems will own the center as long as the GOP continues to think only their packaging is out of step, instead of their message. If only Ronald Reagan were around, LOL!
Moderate Republicans are considered RINOs and vilified for their communist tendencies..... The inmates love running their asylum and their proud of it.
Meanwhile, back on planet Earth, Gen. Colin Powell was the RUNAWAY choice for Republican nominee (80%+ for likely voters) the year GW was elected. Powell dropped out at the request of his family I believe. I know it is hard for closed minds to fathom, but Republicans were overwhelmingly prepared to nominate a Black, pro affirmative action, pro choice candidate because they considered Powell to be a great American.
