    What??

You guys can't see this at the Chronicle, because they have Dennis Lindsey's Mock Draft listed twice for his and Murphy's. But in the paper (unless Murphy changed is) Murphy has Butler having "bad workouts and some thinking he was tanking to drop" down to #11.

    heypartner: "Murhpy has [... 11] Caron [... 15] Bostjan"

Peter May of the Boston Globe has:

    1. Yao
    2. Williams
    3. Dunleavy
    4. Gooden
    5. Tskitishvili
    6. Wilcox
    7. Hilario
    8. Wagner
    9. Stoudemire
    10. Butler
    11. Jeffries
    12. Borchardt
    13. Ely
    14. Rush
    15. Woods

USA Today had "Rockets Plan to Draft Yao Hits Snag" on the front page of the Sports section, and Rosco Nance gave this mock:

    1. Houston. Trade down: How do you pass on Yao Ming? Easy. The consensus is he could be the next Rik Smits or the next Shawn Bradley. Either way, he's no Shaq, and he won't be a finished product for three years at least. The Rockets are close to being a playoff team, so they should trade for a pick and players who will help immediately. No guts, no glory.

(Seems to me that "no guts no glory" means go for Yao. He "won't be a finished product for three years" means nothing. Olajuwon wasn't a finished product and he led us to the playoffs his first season. "He's no Shaq"? Who is, Mr. Nance? Curtis Borchardt? And what consensus? I've heard everything from Frederic Weis to Wilt Chamberlain. My take is that he's a Rik Smits now, and he's still improving.)

    2. Williams

    3. Yao Ming

(I think if Yao were on the board for Chicago, they'd take him and see what they could get for Curry.)

    4. Dunleavy
    5. Tskitishvili
    6. Butler
    7. Gooden
    8. Hilario
    9. Wilcox
    10. Woods
    11. Jeffries
    12. Wagner
    13. Ely
    14. Rush
    15. Nachbar

Out of the sf's, I think it will be someone other than Butler to fall.

Do you guys know why Butler would tank, and who for?

Even if he isn't a Paul Pierce, wouldn't he be a steal at 10 or 11?

I can't see him get past Riley at 10, worst case. If I'm the Rockets, though, and Butler starts to slip, I do everything I can to move up to where I could get him (say ahead of Miami, #9 owned by Phoenix...they do have a nice slot for a PF that's not named "B utlaw" don't they?)

Although I don't see it happening, and is unlikely, the possibility is there... Paul Pierce did.
