Not sure where to put this. Anyways, I don't really follow baseball, but I want to know more about Jordan's baseball career. How long did he play in the majors, or did he play in the minor league? How successful was he? Why did he go back to basketball after one year? Any info is helpful. This is the only video I found on Youtube. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JgUyzKwrTcU&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JgUyzKwrTcU&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> Has any baseball player tried to make it in the NBA?
He never got past AA His baseball career consists of playing in 127 games in which he hit .202 on the season. Further stats are here http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=jordan001mic Would look good in an Astros Uniform.
This should be in the Hangout, I dont think Jordan played for Houston, this forum is about "Houston Sports" other than rockets obviously.
Only one I can think of who played at the highest levels of both basketball and baseball is Danny Ainge. And I still loathe that guy for throwing the ball at Elie's head. Which reminds me I saw Elie at the Houston's on Fountain View at lunch on Wednesday.
Off the top of my head the only player I can think of is Scott Burrell, but I'm not sure if he was baseball or basketball first.
John Elway - Threatened to put his NFL career on hold (if he wasn't traded), if he was drafted by the Colts (could blame him at the time). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Elway#Draft http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=elway-001joh Todd Helton- Was briefly the starter (as a replacement) of the Tennessee Volunteers until you know who took over, after Helton was injured. Nate Robinson - The guy was allegedly a very talented CB in college, though did not won't play football, because he couldn't be on offense (shocking isn't it). You might could've make the argument that guy could've been a better CB than NBA point guard. He is seemingly more built for football than basketball. http://www.nyknicksbeat.net/2010/02/nate-robinson-special-kind-of-athlete.html http://www.seattlepi.com/huskies/115841_husk04.shtml
Former UConn great Scott Burrell was pretty heavily recruited as a baseball player I believe, he was drafted by the Mariners. Underwhelming NBA Career, but did win a ring as a bench warmer for the Bulls in 97.
http://*******************/articles/146234-the-top-ten-two-sport-athletes-of-the-past-25-years Weird thing I remember in my memories is a guy named Pepper playing for North Carolina. Putting both of their football and baseball careers together, who was a better player Deion or Bo?
Bo was both a better RB than Sanders was CB, and a better baseball player overall. He was an athletic freak. Only problem was his body was too strong for itself... thus his football career was cut short by a devestating injury. So Deion may have had the better career(s) based on longeivity, but Bo was better at both sports at his peak.
He was a pretty decent bench player for the Charlotte Hornets, but had injury problems through most of his career.
