Douglas revealed in a conversation with David Letterman on Tuesday night, that his throat cancer was at Stage 4, which is the most advanced stage of the disease.

    Cancer is a nasty illness.

If things go bad, it goes bad real fast..

After watching that interview, the only thing Dave didn't ask was who was in his will.

He looked alright to me. If I didn't know he had cancer, I would never even suspect anything is wrong with him at this time.

Eventually, he'll look worse though due to the chemotherapy.

video opens and dave asks md how he is
    md says he has cancer
dave seems visibly shocked and says he looks good for having it
md says he found out recently and underwent first chemo therapy session earlier in the week
md talks about him having a sore throat going to doctors and not getting diagnosed until later in the summer after he had spent time in spain with the fam
dave asks how serious it is
md says it is stage 4
dave asks is that a good stage
md says you really want to be at one and that the cancer is just in his neck and has not spread into any area of the body
dave says again how good he looks
md says well this is just the first treatment and it will get progessively worse from here, says the chemo session was extremely tiring, and that at this point his doctors are giving him about an 80% chance of beating
dave says i'd get on that plane and says he wants to do something for him, is there anything he could do
md says how about a hug

they hug and it ends there
some other details i didnt put in about his family being in bermuda or something or other

Sore throat eh? No noticable lump?

I don't feel so stupid now going to a throat doctor the time I had a sore throat that never seemed to go away. The whole time I'm thinking cancer or tumor....and it was acid reflux.

My dog had stage 4 and we all know how that ended.

I think 80% is probably too optimistic personally given his age. He's not a spring chicken any more.

He's had a great life. He could go any time and I will have no regrets.

Hmm, I disagree, he looked well sick to me. I am comparing how he looked to another interview a few months ago, April maybe and he didn't look at all sick. Agreed that the big c sucks.

I thought he handled the interview incredibly well. While it is early, I also thought he looked pretty good, especially considering the state of mind he must be in. And Dave did as good a job as you can in such a situation, I think. The exchange was actually somewhat touching.

Hate to hear that Drox, condolences to you and the rest of the family.

Look at the side shot around the 4:00 mark. The guy looks like he's wasting away.

Yeah I wonder about that too. We have a family friend who is 80 yrs old and has stage 4 bladder cancer and they are preparing he and his family for a timeline of 6 months or less. Its true you never know, and I'm sure Douglas' is getting the absolute best treatment possible.

    Perhaps he meant 20%?
