I have to disagree, AB. I think with those two guys, something like this could work. Of course, in 2006, they could both be old news. Who knows?
Look at what happened to the other recent TV shows made to movies with big name talent. Starsky and Hutch, SWAT, Shaft (was that a TV show?) Eye Spy the list goes on. I hope I'm wrong... BTW I went to Live Tuesday night and hung out with Khalil.
good stuff, huh?? let me know when you go again..i'd love to meet you up there to watch the Rockets or something.
STRONGLY disagree! Foxx is about to win an Oscar and is a hot actor these days. Farrell has been solid in his latest movies. And most importantly, the director of the Miami Vice movie will be none other than Michael Mann (Collateral, Heat, Manhunter). Remember that Mann worked on the original Miami Vice. The movie is going to be updated to feel more like today and not like the styles of the 80s. I am VERY MUCH looking forward to this movie. If it is anything like Collateral and Heat, (which I think it will be) then it will rock!
That's true, AB, even though I thought SWAT was pretty good. EDIT: I didn't see it was going to be Michael Mann. This will work. We were going to go this Tuesday, then FFB started that Golden Tee thing. I do wanna play some cards with you, though. Also, you have to eat at La Bomba when you go to Bloomington.
It's being directed by Michael Mann. Michael "F*cking" Mann. He created Miami Vice and has made some great movies since then. When has that ever happened, the creator of a TV show writing and directing the movie version years later? I am concerned with the casting of Ferrell though. I don't think he's proven himself to be a big box office draw yet and SWAT sucked ass.
I want this to work because Tubbs and Crocket were awesome on Miami Vice, but remakes with different actors never seem to live up to the original. I hope I`m wrong and I also hope they keep the same theme music
Well, since everyone else is talking about Live I've got to join in. A group of us are heading up there tonight to check out the karaoke. It's great fun if you've never been up there on a Friday.
They need to remake Star Wars. Maybe DMB and Pearl Jam could do the soundtrack. That would be awesome.
Most TV remakes are action/comedies that kind of make fun of the TV show. This is how I envision this movie at least. And I think Colin Farrell is totally miscast. He doesn't do comedies.
Is there any originality left in Hollywood? Between movies based on old TV shows and remakes of movies, aka The Longest Yard, is it any wonder I don't go to the movies anymore. How about an original script folks about a topic that already hasn't been digested. Nothing like regurgatating past material. Sequels are bad enough, but this trend is even worse.
They already did remake Star Wars basically by adding all of those "special" effects over the originals. I personally like the original movies and can't stand the new versions.
