miami retires jerseys

    they retired hardaway,mourning and wades team usa jerseys,to add to the other banners :marino and jordan's. am i missing something here? :confused:

    i can see MAYBE the heat ones, but why not retire someones actual HEAT jersey?

    zo,rice,seikaly,hardaway,those are some good candidates,surely wade after its all said and done....

    Am I the only one who thinks it's really stupid that they retired the jersey numbers of a guy who didn't even play basketball and a guy who played for a competing team?

    Marino is Miami.... Come down here and see the love for him. As for Jordan, Riley has the greatest respect for him and believes his number should be retired everywhere.

    rice was their guy at the beginning,seikaly i just threw in there,but ya all the sarcastic guys yall picked would be better an option considering they are heat jerseys,which is my whole point.

    Marino may BE Miami, but Marino didn't play basketball.

    And as for Jordan, I think having teams retire jersey numbers for players that didn't play for that team kind of cheapens the gesture. Jackie Robinson's jersey was rightfully retired by all of MLB, but Jordan was not the type of culturally significant figure that Robinson was.
