new reports by us military and homeland security people predict mexico's govt will collapse and a massive civil violence will ensue keep this in mind: more people died in mexican drug violence than in iraq american officials say this could be bigger than anything ever faced by america since mexico is right on the border and we have a HUGE mexican population in america forget iraq or iran or entire war on terror if this happens it will suck the us into being forced to maybe occupy mexico OR seal southern border and shoot any1 who tries to get near what choices do u think us will have if this happens? they already saying that entire cadres from mexican army and mexican police are defecting to help drug cartels cause they are paid enormous amounts of money. so what do we do when mexico becomes a narco state run by a military and police force who are supporting and protecting drug lords? this is worse than even afghanistan
what plausible justification is there to 'annex' mexico? as far as canada, i have no problems with an EU type thing with canada. in fact i think its absurd that there isn't more freedom of movement and such.
I read something somewhere (I don't remember where) the other day that pointed out the deceivingly rapid way that failed states have failed in recent memory. The specific example I remember was Yugoslavia, where in 1984 the Winter Olympics were in Sarajevo, and less than a decade later it was knock down, drag out civil war. They gave other examples, but it did impress upon me the way that the bottom can fall out of these countries with little to no lead up time.
Here is what you do: Give the military state arms to kill those who are trying to rid the state, and label the rebels terrorists. Then, allow said drug lords to tour the U.S. Once the the druglords serve no purpose, you send them to prison in Florida. If for some reason you get caught or are seen as being evil, grant a pardon to all mexican civilians to allow them into the U.S . Great PR move. Signed, Ollie, Reag, and the 80's

Look at oil. The best way to weaken oil barons/cartels is the fall in the price of oil (in that case due to a slackening of demand). The best way to weaken Mexico's druglords would be to crush the price of drugs which is to break their monopoly on supply(paging andymoon....)
It really is just a matter of time. (Of course, I've thought that since the late 1980's, so I'm bound to be right either before or after I die.)
This would never happen because Canada has us beat. People already try to go to Canada for the free medical care, can you imagine what would happen if there were open borders like the EU? Plus Canada is cleaner and safer. Why would they want all of our crap going over there. Drive through Detroit and then drive through Windsor. No way they would allow any and every one to go and come as they please.
If Mexican govt falls, completely lock the border up using our military and handle it through an international entity like the UN. If we can use our military for other countries' problems, we certainly can use it for ours right?
I can't believe this drug violence is a bigger issue outside of border states. you guys should google mexican border drug violence, its out of control.
