Why don't they just be patient and apply for citizenship instead of risking their lives and living in fear of being caught and not ever being able to get a like good job? So they don't have to pay taxes? Or to give their kids better education and opportunities? They do provide good human services and good food...I am just wondering..no bashing!
Only a certain amount of people can legally immigrate from Mexico each year. The list is a mile long and to do it legally, it can literally take more than a decade. Some people dont have the money or the patience.
The wait is too long. And there are too many opportunities in the US compared to very few opportunities in Mexicio. If you were very poor, and illegal immigrants aren't really prosecuted in the US, wouldn't you do the same?
Because its too much of a hassle. They make maybe $5-10 a day in Mexico - hardly enough to live by, when they can make anywhere between $50 - $100 a day working in Texas. Those guys bust their asses off. We hired 3 of them to help install my friends patio last weekend, and they had it done in about 4 hours what would have taken us in 4 days. Amazing. Most of them share a 1 bedroom apartment between 10 or so people and just work for 6-8 months, then go back to Mexico to their families. They always wear pants no matter how hot it is (you will never see a day laborer wear shorts), and usually a long sleeved shirt as well..... I guess their bodies know how to handle the heat or something.....
Yeah! I've never seen any laborers wear shorts! It's so hot outside too. And they still work...maybe they drink a lot of water. They wear long sleeved shirts too! Oh well! How many illegal immigrants do you think are in Houston? Oh well. Thanks for answering my simple question.
Except economically we want them to come. Why do you think we don't enforce immigration laws (unless it regards an Arabic country)?
Amen Drewdog. I've had the opportunity to be around many, many of these guys & for the most part their work ethic & commitment to family is absolutely incredible.
True. When was the last time anyone saw a white, black or even asian dude driving a garbage truck, mowing grass on the highways or doing some heavy duty work at a small business? I am not trying to be racist or anything. There are many many Mexicans who hold high paying jobs and are well educated. But the sad fact is that poor Mexicans are willing to do jobs that most poor Americans dont even think about.
Without illegal imagrants this country would go to sh*t, I mean who would pick all the fruits and vegetables, clean all the office buildings or do all the construction downtown. Also who would there be so that everyone else can feel better about themselves, you know what I mean, the people who are naive enough to think, "they're dirty, they steal, they need to stay in their own country." Basically what I'm saying is that ever since the beginning immagrants have built this country, we all have ancestors who migrated here, well except for Native Americans. So it's good that your asking questions, but the answer is simple, just think about it. They risk their lives, leave their families, everything they know, to move to a country that they've never been to before, they probably don't know anyone, don't speak the language and come to a country where they're gonna be put down, made fun off, and made feel like an outsider. That shows you how bad it is in Mexico. AC

Exactly. Its not like they are taking jobs away from Americans or something, because most Americans would rather be homeless than do physical labor....
I live in a town where Mexicans make up more than half the population. talk to any of them. living at the bottom in the USA beats a steady job in Mexico a million times over.
My wife works pretty long hours, and she wanted a cleaning service to come out every couple of weeks. We have this one lady that comes out, and I'd be willing to bet that she is legal. Her crew on the other hand..... Anyway, these women work their friggin butts off. It's unreal. Her husband has a lawn service, and because we use them for our cleaning, they'll do our lawn for $25 a week. Now....my lot is almost 3/4 of an acre. It takes me almost two hours just to mow it....that doens't include the weed-eating. Between the fence, the sidewalks, the driveway, and the landscaping beds, I probably have in excess of a 1,000 linear feet of weed-eating needs. They came out this past Saturday, so I actually got to watch them. Well....that's not entirely true. I sat on my lazy ass inside while they were out in the heat. What I do know is this though: they were done in less than thirty minutes. And there was only three of them. And the person behind that big old 42" deck non-riding lawn mower was female. The wierd thing is that the weed eating looked like it was cut with a razor. I couldn't do that good of a job in my dreams.....and the crappy job I would have done would have taken a lot more than thirty minutes. Unbelievable! They work their butts off.
