My nephew recently received a job offer from MetaSolv Software (in Plano) to work as an Associate Business Consultant (I posted this in the Schlumberger thread as well) . His job will be to improve business processes, analyze data, etc.

Has anyone here ever heard of MetaSolv? I know that they are in Plano, but never heard of them until the nephew got the offer. If anyone has any experience with them (positive or negative), I would appreciate you letting me know.

    Thanks :)

What I do know about them isn't good, but that was just from one department and was 6 or so years ago. No telling what it's like there now. I almost interviewed with them for a job back around 2000 or so. When I worked for Nextlink (now XO Communications) we ordered a few million dollars worth of their software after kicking out a competitor of theirs, Eftia, for poor customer service and crappy software. Right when we were implementing the software is when the Dot Com and telecom bubbles burst.

They're known fairly well in the telecom industry. I used to know someone that worked there, but like I said that was over 5-6 years ago. There's no telling what it's like there now.

The "bubble bursting" is one of the factors that concern me. Telecom is VERY cyclical. In 1999 and 2000, students at A&M were being overwhelmed with job offers. BANA (now MIS) majors were in very high demand In 2001, finding a job was like finding gold because the industry crashed.

Just by you saying that they are known fairly well in telecom gives me some solace though. At least it is not a fly by night operation.
