Wow, talk about out of place. Metallica is on Jane Pauley's show right now. They're talking about the stress they went through and was documented in their movie.
Metallica tour schedule: 9/30 Jane Pauley 10/1 Dr. Phil 10/3 Maury Povich 10/4 Montel (w/Korn) 10/5 Oprah 10/6 Oprah 10/7 Oprah 10/8 Ellen Degeneres (w/Limp Bizkit) 10/9 Richard Bey 10/11 Ricki Lake 10/12 Talkback Live 10/14 Dayside w/Linda Vester (w/Godsmack)
metallica can bite me and their last album sucked something awful. i had plenty of st. anger after hearing that mess. let us hope their next album goes back to a time when they made good music rather than this indiscernible trash they called music on st. anger.
When will Metallica fans realize this day won't come? It's been 16 years since they released a good album.
I'm a former fan so I have no such realization. If the day came, then I might jump back on the bandwagon for that album only. LOL. I have to see their little documentary. I hear Lars acts like the real ass that he is. There is nothing more gratifying about Metallica than watching Lars and James go back and forth at each other in a power struggle acting like the stupid whiney biatches that they are and have always been.
who the hell is jane pauley? as for the documentary, wtf? {SPOILER ALERT} they hired a shrink to fix their problems. never heard of a band doing something like taht. the best part is the dave mustaine interview.
Never liked Metallica much. I had a little respect for them many years ago for bringing life backing to the big-hair-heavy-metal genre, but that's about it. Straingely, one of the primary reasons I never liked Metallica was because of their kick drum. It sounds more like "poof poof" than "boom boom". Lars is an ass. I really lost what little respect I had for them when they started crying about MP3's. If you have never seen the Camp Chaos cartoons about Metallica and MP3's you gotta check 'em out - they're hilarious (contain profanity - not very safe for work). -- droxford
Im only a fan in that I recognize the first four albums for the brilliance they are....and mourn for the Metallica that was....the cool bunch of everyday guys I had a beer with in catering after a show at the Summit.....the guys who were young and angry and believed in getting that out with high speed thrashy metal.... not the corporate sellouts they became....they are dead to me. I own their first four albums.....but will never again buy another album from the posers who go by the name Metallica.(unless I wear out Puppet or RTL, which is very possible)
I peaked on "Master of Puppets" although I still enjoyed "...And Justice For All". Of course, I'm into the earlier stuff as well. While I didn't hate the "Black" album, it seemed to be a turning point for them. Then, the music just declined from there. That's how I view it, anyway. I also think I outgrew Metallica. I think they appeal mainly to the younger crowd these days. At least, I enjoyed them when I was younger but I was in high school when "MOP" and "AJFA" came out. That's all we used to do is drive around town blaring "MOP" with as many people as we could fit in the custom van. LOL.
LOL. one of my fondest memories of metallica, or should i say a "fan" of metallica, was in high school. i had followed them from their kill'em all days. high school was when they came out with the Black Album. anyhow, one day this guy in my class comes up to me and says, "hey man, have you heard that new band Metallica?" i said, "uh, they're not new. " he says, "yes they are, every band that's new always names their first album after themselves." i never looked at the fool the same again.
are you counting "Garage Days Re-revisited" ? that one still is my favorite. i lost interest after Justice ....
i really can't stand the new metallica album or their new "image" or whatever it is. touring with limp bizkit and whoever else it was last year, NO frggin solos in their new material. i don't know that band anymore. i love their first four albums but man the black album is treated like the plague. i always hear "real" metallica fans say they sold out after ...and justice for all but why is that? i'm just curious because the black album is obviously their biggest hit and i think a great album. for the people who like metallica before this album whats the main problem with it?
I actually was referring to KIll em all, Ride the Lightning, Master, and Justice....but you bring up a good point...I should have said they had 5 great albums, eventho I dont enjoy Garage as much as the others.. Surf, sounds like a carbon copy of a typical weekend night in the mid 80s with us. Except it was cruisin in my old Torino with the blastin stereo....
Their first few albums were masterpieces. Then the black album came and it was still good, but not quite as good as the others. Then came Load, which was a load of crap. I should have learned my lesson there but I ended up buying Reload also, which was even worse. I finally learned my lesson and wouldn't buy St. Anger if it was 50 cents. As George W says, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, err, um, we won't get fooled again.
