This Sunday at Sam Houston Raceway Park: Mastodon DragonForce Slipknot Disturbed ....and others. I'm going, and I'm stoked.
Nope. I got invited once to the horsetrack and went with my brother-n-law. The same day that I went Quiet Riot and I think Vince Neils band were there. Ive never seen so many mullets and old concert shirts since th eolder days. These were folks my age wearing them...so funny. I do like Disturbed.
Crap..I didn't even know. I really want to see Slipknot and Disturbed. Check out the new song from Slipknot <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1i_72iKvbtI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1i_72iKvbtI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Hmm. Only thing that seems to be lacking from this Metal Mayhem concert is some actual "metal" bands (Dragonforce excluded, however they are mediocre at best). After seeing so much local press lately about Mastodon I recently took a listen to their stuff. They are really pretty crappy. Maiden can't come back to Houston soon enough....
ewwwwwwwwww WAH AH AH AH Worst song ever. Question: Whatever happened to good metal? Answer: It died with Dimebag Darrell.
the only good metal nowadays is prog, math, and death. Most corporate metal is garbage. My friend saw Killswitch, Chimaira and Dragonforce a while back... he said KS and Chimaira killed and Dragonforce was boring as ****... just standing there playing their guitars ridiculously fast. ... I listen to **** like Between the Buried and Me, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, Trivium (The New Old Metallica), Becoming The Archetype... and of course.... Dethklok.
You have great taste in music. Have you heard of the bands Eternal Gothika or Stabbing Fetus? They are almost as good as Demonic Death Fire Sin.
pffft. I'm so indie that when I hear new music I automatically hate it because its too popular now because I have heard it. Besides, no unrespectable metal band would be named any of that ****. You've got to bring it harder next time son. I'm counting on you.
DragonForce Mastodon Walls of Jericho Underoath The Red Chord Hmm, those bands interest me. I've seen Mastadon (the end of a set) and the Red Chord, both were awesome. I'd like to see Walls of Jericho for their growling frontwoman. Underoath used to be good, I mean they used to have ridiculous death metal elements to their music, just amazing. Then the got a new lead singer. I've heard they've somewhat reverted back to their roots though. Might be worth checking out.
I'm rather surprised to hear so many disparaging comments, but to each his own. I saw DragonForce a few years back at the Meridian, and I was blown away. I'm also looking forward to Slipknot and Mastodon, though I admittedly don't know too much of their stuff. And my ticket is free, so I can't complain.
