Pictures of the PSP pack at the link.

Someone at NeoGAF mentioned before this news that MGS4 would be released on June 12th, bundled with the 80GB PS3 (claiming it was from Destination Playstation). Everything but the date has been officially confirmed. Guessing that is true too, but who knows. Didn't think Sony would still be using the 80GB PS3. Or that they would announce a bundle long before its release (hey guys, just wait to buy a PS3 until this bundle comes out).

They need to come out with a The Show 08 Bundle. Thats one of the most addicting games I've ever played. I can't wait for the new one to come out.

Hmm. I wonder how this will sell. Good for people who were planning on buying a PS3 at MSG's release, but I doubt the bundle will move big numbers.

Dumb question, but is the DS3 gonna be compatible with PS2 games?

    Yes.

I can say this with certainty because I've been using my DS3's for over a week now. Ordered from Japan. Accessories like controllers and memory cards are regionless.

Just search eBay for DS3's, and you'll find that with shipping included, you can basically get them for $64 apiece. That's only $5 more than you'd be paying if you waited for them to come out here (because of taxes).

Yeah, I was just waiting for them to come out here. I still play the PS2 version of NCAA 07, it feels weird without rumble. Besides that, I didn't see much point in ordering them early since there aren't many games out that are compatible.

For me, 7 of my 12-game library were compatible... and it really adds a lot to games like Burnout Paradise, NBA 2K8, Uncharted, and pretty much any shooting game (GRAW 2, RS: Vegas). $5 for me is a very small price to pay to be able to play Burnout the way it was meant to be played. But to each their own I guess... :)

EDIT: Actually, scratch the $64 number... looks like there are plenty of deals for $62. I'm tellin' ya man... worth-it! :)

That PSP bundle, though, is pretty hot.

Sometimes I want to trade my old model in for the new ones. :(

Early news from Famitsu seems to confirm that June 12th is indeed the release date for MGS4. As would be expected, there will be a special edition with trailers, making of, etc.

Also some talk at NeoGAF about the Home open beta starting on March 24th in Japan. I'd assume a NA/EU open beta would start around the same time. The guy who posted this hasn't clarified the original comments, so I don't really know how much stock to put into it, although he's usually reliable for any news coming out of Japan.

    Doesn't the MGS4 bundle come with a dual shock 3? That's a really good deal. $60 game + the new $55 dual shock 3 + 80 gig for $499.

    - It does come with a DS3. They should put a sticker on the box to inform everyone.

    I really want the MGS4 bundle..... :(

I bet the bundle was apart of the exclusivity negotiations between Sony and Kanomi.

    Yup.

Here's a list back from September of which games are compatible. A lot of games that came out even before the DS3s were officially announced had compatibility built-in... guess Sony must've told 'em about it before they announced it to the public.

And of course you can expect pretty much all games going forward will be compatible...

You know what, I was looking for an excuse to get a blu-ray player, and I love the MGS franchise.

    This just sold me.

PS3 is still an inferior gaming machine.

This actually kinda surprises me a little. I know Metal Gear is great, but I didn't think it would be a system-seller for many people. Interesting.

    wink2,

chill out on the anti-sony stuff. i have an xbox too and know that there's a playstation free PR service here on this board, but you can't keep trolling like this. if you want to persuade people you should start your own thread about a specific topic.
and.. you know there are rumors of MGS4 on 360. ;)

its still $500. i believe they are bundling this because MGS4 costs so much $$$ to develop that they need to move alot of units. this helps Konami get back the extra $$$ they spent on developing it.

still think they should do a Sing Star bundle cause casual/party games is the hot trend now.
