He along with Tom Hicks and Red McCombs spoke at UT today, and I got a chance to meet each of them at a reception afterwards. I was most impressed with Cuban, though. Not only is the guy a good businessman, but a big basketball fan as well. I asked him about last night's game, and told him I'm a Rockets fan. He said he was still worried even late in the fourth that Cuttino or Bullard might hit some threes and make the game close. He plans on bringing the whole Mavs team back next year like Bradley, Howard, et al. He's really excited about the playoffs, and American Airlines Arena set to open next fall. He also talked about buying nice towels for the Mavs locker room, Wang Zhi Zhi, and bringing interest back into the Mavs. Overall, I came away very impressed with all three, but Cuban seemed like a hell of smart guy. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
He is a very smart business man. Everyone seems to think he got lucky and hit it big with the internet. That just isn't the case. He got out at just below the top intentionally. His decision to get out was well thought out and turned out to be the right move. BTW, Broadcast.com was his 2nd tech company to sell for big money. He could probably do it again if that was his passion. Now, his passion is the Mavs and he is living a dream. ------------------
