i think the OP is trying to set a record with most created threads on one page, ridiculous....

since we are talking about Posey, I thought it was hilarious that JVG kept praising and saying "i want some James Posey on my team if I was still coaching"

ummm... they didn't match Memphis' offer and went on to sign Jim Jackson, who did fairly well for us and got us Wesley during the 2005 run, but yea, the irony in JVG's comment.

He was with us back then but we let him go because he got a good offer
from another team (can't remember which one). He was a RFA then.

It is always funny that after a couple of good play off games people go all crazy over some players. (anybody remember Bonzi Wells). He is a nice player, but when you hear some people here talking about him it is like he is a bonifide all star.

I wouldn't mind having Posey, but that is mostly because we just need a big 2/3

p.s. are you trying to get degraded to Rookie again? It might be a good idea to start less threads.

you could have put all your ideas and questions in one thread.

but it is more funny this way.

No way we can bring Posey here. Celtics want him too, and I am sure he would like to play for them again, especially after winning the Title

Those saying he sucks and what not obviously don't watch enough basketball. Not saying I want him necessarily, just that he's one of the best role players in the league and as much as I hate to admit it, there are NBA GM's that would prefer him over Battier.

I'm pretty sure that JVG wanted to keep Posey. It was a numbers game due to all the crappy salaries that CD paid in his senile years...

That's pretty true to me. I think they're the same player in a sense. The difference is one is a bench player and the other should be a bench player. Shane for all his merits and demerits is a good basketball player. The problem is on a very limited team, he's asked to step out his wheelhouse. Shane Battier, even though he's not as tough as posey, is better playing 25-28 mins against 2nd teamers. Now if this team had that 3rd guy like the spurs and many other teams do, u could have Battier playing starter minutes. On the Rox they don't have that guy so guys like Battier, Rafer, Scola, and Head have to try to be that guy which isn't good. In the playoffs, most teams 3rd guy is pretty good.

Posey is a good role player, especially when he's healthy and now motivate din his contract year.

But he's seriously getting a whole lot of glory because his team won, which while he helped, really has much more to do with Garnett, Allen and Pierce.

I'd bet if the Lakers won the serious, the guy getting all the glory would Machine (a.k.a. Sasha Vujajicj). And you should remember that having Posey doesn't guarantee you ****. People b**** about Shane's Grizzlies not willing a game in the playoff... well guess who was on two of these Grizzlies teams with Shane and got paid salary comparable to, if not bigger than Shane's, too?

    Yep. James Posey.

Guess why Posey got traded after Jerry West signed him 2 years prior? He got injured, fat and lazy.

You're right, but why are you trying to defend Battier? Shane is a role player too.He is more consistent than Posey, but the Grizzlies didn't win a single playoff game because of lack of depth, lack of confidence in the entire team but mainly because of the inability of Pau Gasol to lead them to a victory.

The point I'm trying to make is we aren't good enough to go far in the playoffs right now with a healthy Yao and Tracy even after adding Scola and Landry and a somewhat improved Rafer. I'm not trying to make this a Rudy Gay vs Battier issue nor am I wanting to get rid of Shane, but the need for additional scoring plus defense is obvious if the Rockets are to make noise in the playoffs.

He is coming off a good season and a championship which means he is going to demand more money so I think we wont go after him. I enjoyed his time with us in 2002.

it's pretty much SOP, even after a regular season game.
