Hey Guys, I know I don't post a lot but watching the Spurs vs Thunder series has led me to a thought. If you own a Duncan, Parker, Manu jersey it would still work. If you own a Durant or Westbrook jersey you feel confident that you will be able to wear it for a long time. Now granted that I might jump the gun on some players, and buy their jersey too soon, but I just want to believe. I want to go to a game and feel that we have players that I can follow. My money/jerseys that have gone down the drain. Tmac Artest AB Ariza Battier (not a star I know) Landry (not a star i know) Lowry??? Martin??? I wrote this to Morey and I just wanted to write to you guys to ask for your support and retweet my message.
Just buy an Olajuwon and be done with it. This team is a decade away from relevancy anyway. http://store.nba.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3241846 http://store.nba.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3241845
Preaching to the choir, buddy! Craigslist has banned me for posting my "Moderately worn Houston Rockets legend Brian Cook jersey for sale" post.
I have an Olajuwon jersey. I was able to wear it for YEARS. While he still played. I understand that you follow the team, and I will be a Rockets fan forever, but there is something to being able to follow someone as they progress. I'm okay with a project. I love sharing the heartbreak ... it makes the successes even better. But this high turnover is discouraging.
Summer Song Giver giving Winter Blues. Seriously, this team could jump to "relevancy" at any moment with the right moves. Not necessarily a superstar move. You must believe Summer Song Giver!
So what do you want? You want to make your investment in a jersey to last as long as possible? This is sports. Players lasting for a long time with the same team is kind of rare, especially those without legitimate superstars like the Rockets.
Maybe, but I just don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. The only route I see out of this wheel spinning mess is a few really bad years and a couple of really good drafts.
Your argument is sadly circular. I understand what you are saying about how stars want to play with stars. But its sad in the fact that you have to have a star to get stars. Well obviously we don't have a star so i guess we won't ever have one. But thats not the point I don't need a Star! I don't need a Carmelo or Lebron that just up and leave you. I just want to have a player or two that I can watch for more than a couple of season. Make a plan and stick with it. Build around a player or players, sure role players can change but not the core.
This is silly IMO Here are mine: (traded) tmac (x2) Brooks Ariza Artest Landry Dorsey Novak (x2) Greene Battier Francis retired so cant count him Mutombo still have: Lowry Scola Hakeem (of course) its part of being a fan you want to buy a jersey to support the team - Morey's job is to try to put together the best team he can - buying jerseys suck because well they arent always cheap but what do you want him to do? Not make a trade because fan X wants to wear a jersey for 2 seasons in a row? No one forces anyone to buy a jersey If its that much of a concern - I would suggest buying Rockets t shirts and the such so those never really go out of style since at least to me its always been about the name on the front of the jersey and not the back. (also pretty sure dave2000 and stevierebel have me beat big time in $ spent on jerseys)
You own a Dorsey and Greene jersey ... lol I can't beat that. Was the Greene jersey a summer league jersey?!?!?
