    Hey all-

Im thinking about buying a an 8" serta memory foam mattress. I wanted to know if any of you had any experience with this product or just memory foam in general. Do you like it? What are the advantages/disadvantages. Id be buying a used one(about 6months old) for 125 bucks. Is this a good deal. I mean it is used. Otherwise it seems like a good deal. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks guys.

yeah, careful of the used part.

But they are great. I was going to get one for my last bed but the one i wanted was 3000. I could have got the base model for cheaper but i didnt want to do that. I just got a regular bed but i will get a foam for my next bed in 4 years or so

I can sleep on carpet, if need be. Why the hell is everyone worried about how they sleep these days?

I have one, but its not used. Its very comfortable, but I would be worried about the used part.

I bought a new coil set about a year ago and wasnt happy with it, so after trying another set and still being unhappy and getting a store credit for the second set I gave the memory foam a try..

I really like the foam, but after you break it in it isn't quite as firm as I would have liked.. 8" should be plenty supportive, but I ended up getting a really thick multi layered foam mattress and while it is comfortable IMO it could be a bit firmer.. I am somewhat worried that the foam may breakdown over time and become too soft and I wont get my full investment out of it.. Mine came with a warranty that is better than most coil springs, but I'm still not sold on it..

Overall after everything is said and done I think the memory foam is a good choice in mattresses, but I don't think it was quite worth the money they ask for them..

I bought a cheap pillowtop mattress for my son's room thinking that since he was small it wouldn't matter. Well after a couple of years and a few guests, it didn't hold up too well and sleeping on it was horrible. I bought a 2" (you might want to go 3-4" for adults nightly sleeper bed) memory foam mattress topper for it and have had it about a year now. It sleeps great again - I just slept on it the other night - the daughter saw The Messengers and was too scared so she slept with Mom. Memory foam mattress toppers are cheap and easy to replace. See amazon or ebay.

if you look for places that sell direct from the manufacturers, you can get a better price on a new one. the places sell space foam for multiple uses and you can just give them measurements to cut. My friend got a queen size one delivered for about $150 in philly.

We don't drink as much as you. ;)

Here's my question, though: What are the odds of two threads about beds in one day?

I'd rather sleep on the floor than buy used bedding man... no telling whose dog, kid, or spouse peed, barfed, or pooped on it. No telling what else took place on it, either... lol.
