At this point I'm unsure if this is Casserly or Capers
    oops. . .wrong sport
    CD or JVG

but d*mmit we need more Shooters
    Consistant Shooter
This was a primary problem in the Francis/ Yao Era
    it is one now

When we hit our shots are a mediocre clip
    we are rolling
but then we get some HORRIBLE NIGHTS
I know every shooter has an off night
    but
I have never seen so coordinated an off night schedule
    If Rafer is on. . .so is wesley . . bogans . . head.. . . howard
when one is off. . .seems like they all collapse

We need to just have some SharpShooters on the bench or something

WIDE OPEN SHOTS HAVE TO FALL

    Rocket River
    . . .

CD is gone after this season IMO. Hopefully Jeff Von Dummy joins him. You would think with the extra roster spot they would sign a wing shooter. But they still haven't signed anybody and they continue to play with only 11 active players and Bogans is playing 40 plus minutes. Just sign some young player from the NBDL or CBA because we have no chance to make the playoffs anymore. But CD and JVG still think they can so they will sign some old guy like George Lynch or Wesley Person.

Wesley and Alston need to go. They both suck at their positions.

Amen to that. Everybody on this teams needs to go but Yao, T-Mac, Chuck Hayes, and Luther Head.

The scary thought is that this is a JVG-designed roster. Who was the last Rock to 'come from nowhere', ie 'develope'? Thus, for the first time I am wondering who should be the Head Coach of the Rox...Thibodeaux? Iavaroni? Rudy???

I like Marc Iavaroni but he comes from the school of Pat Riley and Mike Fratello which JVG also came from. My first choice would be Mario Elie as head coach and Kenny Smith as GM. :)

Every team in the league (besides Phoenix and Dallas) needs shooters.

Wesley was doing fine before the leg injuries. Why does eveyrone forget that? He's undersized, yeah.. so I'd rather have him off the bench.

Rafer's done well. I think with a season under his belt and a roster that he plays with more often than 5injuries-a-night, he'll be more consistent next year.

Many posters continue to use injuries as the excuse for the poor performance of this team against upper level competition. They are unwilling to see the obvious, this team does not have the personnel necessary to be a contender, healthy or not. Last season we had Sura, James, Barry, and Padgett as complimentary role players to Ming and TMac (both healthy). The current supporting cast does not measure up. Two of the "miracle" offseason trio of acquistions are still playing on the team, Alston and Swift. Anderson is gone. Overall, the offseason was a bust. Alston and Swift, IMO, are both bench players. But the central issue is the team now has no consistent shooters (and Wesley wasn't either). This MUST change.

The first important part of building a team is talent evaluation. Look at Detroit, San Antonio, Dallas, even Miami. The rockets isn't that good in that department.

If I may jump in here for a moment...

Actually, the lack of consistent shooting is a problem that's been with the Rockets for years now. Folks tend to forget that during the Stevie "Franchise" years the Rockets consistently shot in the 30% to low 40% range which, combined with their high propensity for turning the ball over, spelled their doom and landed them in the NBA lottery time and time again.

If you go back and look at how this organization assembles talent you will see a consistent pattern of poor to absolute dumbass drafting, bad personnel decisions and a reliance on cheap players who can't make your team more competative. To me, this year is no different from any of the other years since their last championship. The one constant has been the rather sorry performance of the Rockets' organization in their attempts to stumble upon the right mix of players.

Two years ago when they acquired TMac, I openly questioned whether they had the right people in place to "build" a CONTENDING team around Yao & McGrady. Well, it's 2 years later and the Rockets are no closer to challengng for a title that they were during the SF3 days. I see all of these posts imploring CD to do this and that to get us some really good players and I have to chuckle because CD is at the root of what's wrong with this team. And, as long as he is running things, the Rockets will continue to wander around in the NBA wilderness.

That's why I can't get too emotionally worked up over what's happened this season because I really didn't expect all that much from this team given the moves that were made during the offseason. The best I expected was a low seed and a first round exit. That they are now staring the NBA Lottery squarely in the eye does not surprise me in the least because that tells me that the simply didn't get the breaks they needed to reach the playoffs. It's unfortunate that they will go into this offseason with the same questions at guard & PF that they had at the beginning plus there will be that added unspoken fear about TMac's back injury being a chronic injury that will further diminish his ability to play. It's just been a bad, down, sucky year to be a Rockets fan and it's worse if live in Dallas like I do. Then on top of everything else, you get to listen at folks laugh and giggle at the ineptness of your hometown team.

YES!!! I am 100% behind this move! The Rockets would take on such a positive attitude with Mario and Smith at the Helm! Rockets take control of Rockets at last, at last, at long last!!!

Bench player, yes. But JVG puts him as a starter even when we're healthy. Why the hell? Wesley f'n sucks. He needs to retire.

Alston needs to go back to And1 - the only thing he is good at. I hope we get a quality PG in free agency or through the draft to replace his sorry ass. Sucks we gave up Mike James for him.

SHOOTERS - Chuck Hayes, Luther Head I think not. Hayes is an offensive Ryan Bowen couldn't hit an outside shot or FT to save his life, dude will never be more than a backup/scrub. Luther Head, we will see, slightly above average athlete, streaky shooter, good man on man defender, average handle.

We had pure shooters, but we traded them all away.

Hayes at least goes after the rebound and puts some muscle in his defense. Ryan Bowen is like a pest, but no muscle involved.

Head, hustler, but can't hit the side of a barn.

What I dont understand is why can't we have our  supposedly shooters shoot?

Why not make em shoot 1000 jumpers a day for 3 months straight.

It's called practice.. And practice makes perfect. Are these old farts so high on themselves that they don't see practice as a necessity?

And if 1000 jumpers a day doesnt do it.. Make em shoot 2000 thousand a day till there arm falls off.
