There have been a few threads on this movie already, but none since after I saw it, so I will partake. I loved the movie, although I found it helps a great deal to watch it twice to get all the little details straight in your head. What was most amazing to me was that, even after watching a second time and combing ("we ain't found ****!") for any possible discrepancies or errors, I could find no chinks in this movies proverbial armor. It was quite impressive, considering how intricate the writing process must have been, and how many little facts they had to keep track of. Personally, I want to see what happens before the movie ends (begins?). I want to see how he got all the tatoos that they never explained.
Memento is the best movie I've seen all year. Did anyone ever figure out why he takes the guy's clothes and wears them after he kills him in that abandoned building? That's the only thing that didn't make sense to me.
Because his clothes had blood on them. Style is better than blood stains...... Also, This goes the same as taking his car. Dead guy had cooler stuff than he did!
It's been a while since I saw it, but I thought he put on the clothes because something like someone else was trying to kill the guy who's clothes he took... or something like that. I thought there was a reason other than the blood.
I just saw the movie and liked it. I don't think the blood reason is a good one--since he choked the guy to death, there was no blood, was there?
rarely am i on the edge of my seat 10 minutes after a movie starts. i really enjoyed this movie and any trash talkers of it can go to hell and have to sit through dude where's my car for eternity...
I haven't seen it, but the story sounds an awful lot like the game "Planescape: Torment" which came out a few years before the movie. I'm not saying they ripped the story off of the game, but I've seen some people say that in other message boards. Hey, the concept is GREAT and it made for a great game and what sounds like a great movie.
this movie is great! if any of you haven't seen it, rent it, buy it... good good stuff. and guy pierce is really good in it. i dig the tattoos
I haven't seen the game but can't even begin to comprehend how to make one out of the premise of this movie. As for the blood stain motive: that's no good. He tells the guy to take off his suit so that he doesn't get blood on them. So, by that time, Leonard has already planned to kill the man and steal his clothes. But, he couldn't have planned it too much earlier or else he'd have forgotten it. Besides, he never did get blood on his old clothes. I think he took them simply because they were nice. Perhaps as a token of his victory. Or, maybe to create all the confusion on which the rest of the story is based.
It's not a gimmick. It's a storytelling device. Not all stories have to be told in chonological order. If this story were being told in traditional narrative style, there may not have been much to differentiate it from any other crime movie out there. The unique thing about this story is Leonard's memory condition. The storytelling technique used is intriguing because it approximates in the viewer the same scattered sense of time that the main character experiences, thus helping the viewer to get inside his head a little better.
why on earth would you read a thread with the title of a movie you want to see and havent already? lol. btw; great movie.
I'd like to see a sequel, where we go further back in chronological time, maybe even all the way back to the time of the rape/assault...Well, maybe that would be boring and predictable given that we know so much of Lenny's story already, so then if not a sequel, at least a detailed chronicle of events preceding the events in the movie. C'mon Chris Nolan! Cough it up!!
