Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports reports that Carmelo Anthony would still like to depart Denver before the season begins.

A source with knowledge of Anthony's plans told Yahoo! Sports that his preferred destinations are Chicago and New York.

The Bulls' offer would need to include Luol Deng who could be packaged along with James Johnson and Taj Gibson. Chicago also has draft picks to offer the Nuggets.

The Knicks' offer would center around Danilo Gallinari and Eddy Curry. It is not known whether the Knicks would also be willing to offer the newly acquired Anthony Randolph, a multi-talented forward who some believe can develop into an All-Star big man.

The Knicks may prefer to wait until next summer when the team can try to sign Anthony as a free agent.

    Doesn't sound good.

If we don't get him so be it, but damn it would suck if he went to NY and helped wreck our picks. He needs to either come here or to the Nets.

...yea sounds bad, because some source is speculating that melo is leaning towards favoring two other teams over the rockets at this moment in time.

    cool.

Chicago would be pretty nasty if they added Melo.

Morey should be monitoring the Melo situation..whether goin for him or not..he should press the right button when to unload our NYK picks.

If he's smart... he'll choose the Bulls over the Knicks. If he's dumb... well... He'll go to the Knicks.

At this point it seems the Rockets just aren't the preferred destination anymore... :(

chicago couldn't unload deng's contract for basically nothing this season, anyone who thinks denver would take him for melo is an idiot of the highest order.

The Bulls would be sick if they add Melo. Call me crazy, but they would be better than both the Heat and Celtics if it were to happen.

    Rose/Watson
    Korver/Bogans
    Carmelo/Brewer
    Boozer/Asik
    Noah/Thomas

Well this totally contradicts Woj's earlier report.

All believe the one who's more credible. Adrian Woj has proven to be credible during the trade deadline.

Denys contract is bad wouldn't get near it with a 10 ft pole.

But if the bulls somehow got melo wow  Rose/Melo/Boozer plus a decent bench/role-players they have boozer would be right saying they can win a championship

Denver would be foolish to settle for anything less than Noah if they're shipping Carmelo to the Bulls. Unless Noah is part of the deal, the Nuggets are better off sending him elsehere. (see what I did there???)

Man he would fit in so well in Chicago taking Deng's spot. A lineup of Rose, Brewer, Melo, Boozer, and Noah has everything you need!

Spears and Woj collaborate on a lot of their work; if you trust Woj, you should trust Spears.

As far as whether or not Morey is interested in Carmelo, I guess DD has his answer:
I don't think anyone should get bent out of shape. Who cares if the Rockets are third, fourth or fifth? As long as they're on his extension list -- Denver makes the call, not Carmelo.

I completely disagree that the Bulls have attractive trade pieces. They were trying to give away Deng earlier this summer to clear space, and now suddenly he's the centerpiece in a Carmelo Anthony deal? Unlikely. Taj Gibson is a solid player, but James Johnson? He hardly played last year. I sincerely doubt Deng or Johnson would interest Denver. Any first round picks included would be worth very little, as Chicago would likely be picking almost last every year. At least the Rockets can offer the picks from NY's sinking ship.

I still think the Rockets can offer a better package than both Chicago and New York. New Jersey could trump our deal, but first they would have to find a third team to give up value for Devin Harris in a three team deal.

I think Carmelo would be a good fit on the Bulls. He's got a young stud in Derek Rose who could potentially break out into superstardom. A potential perenniel All-Defense player in Noah. A very good scorer/rebounder in Boozer. And a great defensive coach. That's a team that could use his scoring punch, but wouldn't need him to be more than he's shown.

He'd be a great fit, but I don't see the Nuggets settling for Deng, Gibson, and the other guy mentioned. Deng and his contract would trap them into mediocrity, and the young guys aren't really that great. They might actually be better off just letting Melo walk for nothing.
