Melo: 'I Need Some Help' Carmelo Anthony expressed frustration that he is not getting enough support from his Denver teammates so far in these playoffs. "I'm trying, I'm trying to beat them. I'm trying to do everything I can in my power to beat the Jazz," Anthony said Sunday after the Nuggets went down 3-1 to Utah. "But, at the end of the day, I need some help. I'm not sitting here pointing fingers or nothing. As a unit, we've got to do this together. I can't do this by myself." In the first half of the game, Anthony yelled at Chris Andersen for taking a bad shot. "I'm in a battle. I don't have time to worry about people's feelings right now," Anthony said. "I'm trying to win." http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_14959375
Even though his teammates are playing like utter **** right now, Melo can't get wrapped up in trying to "do everything". Either he recognizes that his teammates aren't hitting shots and shuts up and drop 40+ in order for the Nuggets to win a la Wade, or he trusts his teammates more and hope that they can get hot soon. That "I'm in a battle" mentality, IMO, says more about how little he cares about his teammates (and how they, too, are in the same battle). Of course, I'll wait for Nuggets4 to chime in on this.
Ah, now JR Smith's twitter comment regarding selfishness is starting to make more sense. Too many big egos on the Thuggets.
Comments like this make me respect the guys on the Rockets so much, they don't blame others if the team loses. What the Nuggets really need is George Karl, he could keep all the emotions in check, the guy filling in (can't think of his name right now, sorry) just doesn't know how to. I also think that they are worried about their coach and whats going to happen to him.
Well his teammates arent really doing anything right now most of them are playing like ****. Cant blame him for being a little upset.
Words from a man destined to never win a ring. Winners don't complain or point fingers and they sure as hell don't do it at the age of 25 when they haven't accomplished anything in this league yet.
word to kobe? word to wade? with his calling out beasley? word to MJ? i just listed 3 champions. however, melo won't win b/c he's not on their level, not b/c he's complaining, unless he has more talent around him. need more defensive thugs, rather than offensive thugs.
No, if he quits and leaves the team or forces the trade, then he's knee mac. if he calls out his team for sucking, that's fine. Bird called out his teammates during the finals.
My thoughts exactly. This is how Barkley alienated himself from the 97 Rockets team and insured the complete collapse of the Dream era.
Sadly, I called this a while ago. Don't blame Melo for being frustrated. I'm frustrated and I don't have to be around all these knuckleheads every day. That said, I'd appreciate it if Melo put the effort on D that he did on O in game 4. Might have been a slightly different story then.
Martin making max is a killer. Losing the kid who went overseas i thought was huge also. When you really look at it, its typical karl type of team that is always a couple of plays away from destruction.
what not a winner? the guy took syracuse to a ncaa championship as a freshman which is probably one of the hardest thing to do in all of sports not just basketball then in his first year in the league took denver back to the playoffs after they had missed it for how many years? made it to the WCF last year, of course finally having Billups helped, but this was in the west Melo i think has what it takes to be the #1 guy on a championship team he just needs some vets around him that arent knuckleheads around him. Losing Karl hurts this team big time as with any team that loses their coach (see Rockets in 2002) who is supposed to provide purpose and focus for the team. Melo is fine I think he has made advances in his game the past 2 seasons they just need to get rid of some of their problematic type players namely Kenyon Martin that guy just doesnt get it IMO.
