Guess it is a good thing they picked up Hunter... Not that he's guilty by association (he's guilty because he failed a test), but he did used to be a training partner and mentee of A-Rod.
He got popped for taking a drug that A-Rod never took and during the time he was with the Yankees Melky was notorious for not working out enough and not caring enough about his body. The hitting coach even remarked this year that Melky got himself traded by not working hard.
Credit for a creative excuse? http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8...abrera-launched-fake-website-ruse-report-says San Francisco Giants star outfielder Melky Cabrera mounted a campaign to avoid his 50-game suspension that included a fake website featuring a fictitious product in an effort that was quickly uncovered by MLB investigators, the New York Daily News has reported. ...
Some of the reaction to this has been absolutely ridiculous. Rick Sutcliffe suggested that Melky Cabrera should be deported. For goodness sake, it's just baseball.
ANother player just busted for PED's.. Bartolo Colon gets 50-game ban http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8...-suspended-50-games-violating-mlb-drug-policy
It is looking more and more possible that Cabrera will win the NL batting title. He needs one more plate appearance to qualify and the rules state that he can be credited with an 0 for 1 and if his average is still the highest he wins. So, what will MLB do? Since he got busted with PEDs then should they award him the batting title since he essentially cheated (according to the drug rules) to win it?
They have an MVP get busted, so why not? I understand not wiping away the past, but testing positive during the season should prevent you from receiving any award. Just call players like Melky ineligible. That easy.
Since when has Bud Selig ever done the easy, sensible thing?? He oversaw the sport during an era where cheating was at its peak. The guy is scum.
