Likley two of these guys you are looking at below are going to be members of your Houston Rockets next year. So, when march madness comes along pay attention to these guys and meet on your T.V. screen you next Rocket star.

I'd like to get Mihm, for a while there I was off the Mihm bandwagon, but his low point are attributed to few shots that he takes because they don't pass the ball to him. In the NBA, the way they defend Mihm is ILLEGAL DEFENSE.

Think about it this way, the Rockets are likely picking 6th and 15th as it stands now. These are the C, PF, and SF that I have looked up. These are the positions that the Rockets need to fill. Believe me, even if the Draft goes in this order, there will be some quality players at the 6th pick.

And if Terence Morris declares for the Draft as well as DerMarr Johnson, then it looks good for the Rockets!!!!!

    1. Chris Mihm, 7-0, 265, C, Texas, Junior
    2. DerMarr Johnson, 6-9, 200, SG/SF, Cincinnati, Freshman
    3. Kenyon Martin, 6-8, 230, PF, Cincinnati, Senior
    4. Terence Morris, 6-9, 205, SF, Maryland, Junior
    5. Brendan Haywood, 7-0, 270, C, North Carolina, Junior
    6. Jerome Moiso, 6-10, 230, PF, UCLA, Sophomore
    7. Courtney Alexander, 6-6, 200, SG, Fresno St., Senior
    8. Jason Collier, 7-0, 245, PF/C, Georgia Tech, Senior
    9. Troy Murphy, 6-10, 235, PF, Notre Dame, Sophomore
    10. Loren Woods, 7-1, 230, C, Arizona, Junior
    11. Hanno Mattola, 6-10, 240, SF, Utah, Senior
    12. Chris Porter, 6-7, 218, SF, Auburn, Senior
    13. Stromile Swift, 6-9, 235, SF/PF, LSU, Sophomore

vince, I count seven underclassmen in your list. If most/all come out, it looks like a powerhouse draft all right. Which ones besides Morris and Johnson do you speculate will declare? Any high-schoolers you know of in this category?

Anybody have any word on how Venson Hamilton and Tyrone Washington are doing??

If I'm not mistaken, both these guys had the bodies to be PFs.

It would be great if Swift came out this year, but I think he said hes staying at LSU for at least one more year. I think we should get Martin with the 6th pick and then with the 15th pick maybe we should get Shane Battier. I've seen Battier play a lot, and I like what I've seen so far. He has great defense and I think he would help our team out a lot.

Kenyon Martin should and will most likely be the number one pick. He is a senior with alot of upside. I guess I just like players with experience.

I understand that Mihm is the best center available, bit O still think that the obvious choice is Martin.

If the Rockets have a chance at Chris Porter, I say they go for it. The kid has game!!

    RE:
    Venson Hamilton & Tyrone Washington

Both of these guys are playing in the A2 division of the Italian league.
As for how they're doing, as far as I can tell (ie based on the statistics) Washington is middle of the pack at best, in a league in which the second leading rebounder is Albert Burditt. The league is also below the one in which former Rocket great John Turner plays. Needless to say, I have little faith in the quality of the competition.

Venson Hamilton's play, however, would seem to be another story. He was originaly slated to play in Poland, but was cut before the start of the season, in what I would imagine was a price vs. performance move. He didn't catch on until the middle of the Italian season, but seems to have played exceptionaly well, most notibly leading the league in reb/min and blocks/min.

If anybody cares to see all the stats, the web site is http://www.legabasket.it/. It is an asp page so you can't link directly, but rather must click the club button at the top, and then the A2 button. Hamilton plays for 'Record Cucine Napoli' & Washington for 'B. Popolare Ragusa'. Be warned, however, that the page is in Italian

Lobo these are probably to most not a concesensus top 10 guys, but they are at least everyones top 15 guys. In other terms, these are generally tought of as the top high school players.

And of these guys, I think that only 3 are worth a second look in this years draft. That is Gerald Wallace, Darius Miles, and Eddie Griffin. But I just don't see any of these guys going early. Wallace may go in the 20 to 25 pick of the first round. But, he may surprise in pre draft camp workouts if he plays like he declares for the Draft.

    1. Gerald Wallace 6-6 SF Childersburg (AL) High ALABAMA
    2. Eddie Griffin 6-8 PF Philadelphia (PA) Roman Catholic SETON HALL
    3. Marcus Taylor 6-3 PG Lansing (MI) Waverly MICHIGAN STATE
    4. Jared Jeffries 6-9 PF Bloomington (IN) North INDIANA
    5. Darius Miles 6-7 SF East St. Louis (IL) Lincoln
    6. Caron Butler 6-6 SF Pittsfield (ME) Maine Central CONNECTICUT
    7. Chris Duhon 6-1 PG Slidell (LA) Salmen DUKE
    8. DeShawn Stevenson 6-6 SG Fresno (CA) Washington Union KANSAS
    9. Jerome Harper 6-5 SG Columbia (SC) Keenan CINCINNATI
    10. Omar Cook 6-1 PG Middle Village (NY) Christ the King

Finishing with the 6th & 15th position yields a roughly 7% chance of getting the top pick, which, unless I'm confused, would end up providing a roughly 1 in 5 chance at one of the top 3 picks. All in all, those odds aren't too bad.

Also, has anyone actualy seen any of the top high school players personaly?

Vince no disrespect but how do you know half the guys on your list will even declare?

Besides the seniors no one has stated they will enter. your list is full of THE BEST PLAYERS AND PROSPECTS but has no basis on who is actually IN THE DRAFT.

wait and see, personally i think swift and Q will stay in school.

    Ottomaton,

Thanks for the info. Here's what it says, as far as I can tell, in my non-Italian speaking translation.

    T. Washington:
    MIN: 31.5
    PTS: 12.8
    FG%: 49.1
    FT%: 66.2
    REB: 8.5
    STL: 0.4
    BLK:
    AST: 0.5

    V. Hamilton:
    MIN: 34.5
    PTS: 15.3
    FG%: 52.3
    FT%: 62.8
    REB: 12.3
    STL: 0.8
    BLK:
    AST: 1.0

15.3 pts, 52.3% FGs, and 12.3 rebs is pretty impressive in any league. You'd think that the competition was higher than college, and anyone coming out of college with those numbers would be sought after.

I'm fairly sure on these. I couldn't figure out which category was blocks, and I'm just guessing I got steals correct. If there's any Italian speaking posters out there, check this web site out and give me a little help.

Well Gerald Wallace and Darius Miles have stated if they are confirmed to picked in top 8, they will leave.
