I remember this guy from Syracuse. He was a STAR. He was the McGrady of Syracuse.

He is EXACTLY what they needed.

LOL! I like it... I also like when we (TAMU) held him to negative 7 points on 4% shooting in the tourney to send his ass out.

That's a common misconception about McNamara. He never shot above 40% from the field or from 3-pt range. He played with a ton of heart and seemed to have a knack for being clutch when it counted the most but outside of those intangibles he was a 6'1"ish tweener guard without a position, a consistent shot or ability to run an offense on an NBA level. Add to that his average overall quickness and footspeed and shortcomings on the defensive end and you have the makings of a player that doesn't really belong in the NBA.

Compare McNamara to a player he had a similar role to in college like Steve Blake and it's not even close.

This is exactly correct. I watched quite a few games where G-Mac missed the game winner. He was really a tough, hard-nosed player, but wasn't really even an elite college player.

Yeah, I went to Syracuse when "The Pride of Scranton" was playing and in my eyes he was never an elite college guard. Very tough and smart, but never possessed the skill level to play in the NBA. He just had some amazing shooting performances though, and was ridiculous in there run to the Big East Championship a few years ago.

V-Span does look like McGrady compared to McNamara, horrible comparison.
