Best band in Houston plays Saturday night, upstairs at Rudz. JW Americana, babies. They'll be recording two live tracks (I F***in Love It Man and N.R.A.) for their new record. And that (along with my old theater closing one of my favorite plays ever and Greg Wood playing a week later at Rudz) is enough to get me down there. Meetcha meetcha in the ladies room.
Better you just see them, but since they don't have any videos, better you just hear them. There are a few MP3's at www.jwamericana.com. The Houston Press called them the best unsigned band of 2003. If you've ever heard of Lowbrow, they sort of rose from those ashes. But they're much better. They don't sound anything like de Schmog or Sprawl, but they're the most fun I've had since those shows way back then. And on top of rocking seriously hard, they're funny as hell. Hope you can make it out. Wish I could make the RMT show, but I'm going from the play to a cabaret to JW. Is Tex playing any other shows in May or June?
I know Kosmo, that freak. We were real good friends in high school and we had a little band back then etc. Lowbrow was fun, I guess I need to see his new band sometime. Last I looked there were no mp3s on JW's site. I guess it is time to look again. Slight chance I will go to the show.
Naw, rH. Strip clubs just depress me. Jack Babylon's End of the World Cabaret at the Axiom (after the play). mateo: They'll probably go on around 12. I don't know if there's an opener. Meowgi: Yes, Kosmo is a freak. But he's in a serious freak race with his bandmates Rodney, Shane and Arthur. The site's still primitive but there are three mp3's up there now. Hope to see you out there.
95: I may be in and out of town, but my next stop's not til early July in Pittsburgh. Let me know if you wanna get a beer. Better still, come see JW. I'll be at Rudz on the 29th too for Greg Wood.
Heading up to Wichita this weekend, then back to Tyler next weekend for family functions. Lemme know when you're back in July.
