I have made an appointment with my doctor but cannot get in until next week. I have had this large lump, bump, or whatever you want to call it on my left wrist for a long time. It is on the top part of the wrist and is most visible when my hand is tilted downward. I would say it is about the size of a pinball, maybe a little bigger. Like I said, it has been there for a while now, I know for well over a year. This week though it has been causing me some problems. Sometimes I cannot clinch and make a tight fist, I'll be typing on the computer and my fingers will pause, and it is even painful or tingling sometimes. I'm not too worried about it because it has been there and was relatively unnoticeable but now not so much. Anybody know what this may be and what they do to treat it?
My aunt-in-law had a problem with a ball on her wrist and her doctor har her wear one of those wrist glove looking things. Does it cause you pain? I think her's did.
Sounds like some type of ganglion cyst. Just take a big heavy book and hit it with all your might. Caution: It might hurt a bit...
Best case scenario, they just lance it and you have to keep draining it and put a bandage on it for a couple days.
It hasn't been causing any problems until this week. It's not severely painful just kind of annoying. Tried the wrist glove thing to no avail.
They will probably drain it. I think she's had that done too, because it comes back. Don't worry, you won't die.
dude if you are going to the Dr. anyways feel free to do all the research and reading about it, but don't do any treatment. There is just no point to trying anything. No good can come from that.
In a complete flip-flop from my previous post, if you ARE going to do more stuff to it: Don't hit it or burst it. The best thing is to go buy a few needles and a syringe. Get some big honking needles like 18g. Jab it in the and pull back. You may have to stab it a few times so make it a new needle each time. Not for sterility but because the needle will dull with every jab. you can get needles from most pharmacy. don't get insulin needles as they are much to small for this purpose.
I do this too sometimes, lol. It usually ends up never doing much good, but I usually use the safety pins from the medicine cabinet and then use a candle to sterilize them and away I go. Of course, these are for like wrap-around infections where you bite your nails too much and then the side starts to swell a bit. A while back, I learned I could just use my tetracycline and knock out the infection. Technically not even drug abuse since I don't use it for acne. Win-win.
the risk of infection is less this way then litting it burst inside your freaking skin. Now THAT is gross.
