I posted the Chrons Rockets - Dallas media predictions in round 1, now here's their round 3 predictions Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle: Warriors in 6 Jenny Dial Creech, Houston Chronicle: Rockets in 7 Randy Harvey, Houston Chronicle: Warriors in 5 Brian T. Smith, Houston Chronicle: Warriors in 7 J.A. Adande, ESPN: Warriors in 6 Kevin Pelton, ESPN: Warriors in 5 Marc Stein, ESPN: Warriors in 5 Ethan Sherwood Strauss, ESPN: Warriors in 6 Calvin Watkins, ESPN: Warriors in 6 Eric Freeman, Yahoo: Warriors in 5 Zach Harper, CBS: Warriors in 5 James Herbert, CBS: Warriors in 5 Matt Moore, CBS: Warriors in 5 Anath Pandian, CBS: Warriors in 6 Ben Golliver, Sports Illustrated: Warriors in 6 Shaun Powell, NBA.com: Warriors in 6 Broderick Turner, Los Angeles Times: Warriors in 5 At least Feigen and Watkins gave us 2 wins... I guess. And that asshat, Strauss, no longer believes his team is going to roll over us. Also, I like how Thorpe said on TrueHoopTV that he has the balls to change his opinion based on recent events, unlike Stein. Spoiler Also, I got the hots for Creech.
JDC is the only media believer. Lockmat is keeping track: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yQdt-nRMQN5UlDFjUWCnae4cSSCar41QFIhp05Vs8HA/edit?pli=1#gid=0 Strauss does think it will be a short series. *Tries not to look like a coward* The Warriors advance in six games. Deep down, I probabl think it's a shorter series, but it's easier to avoid the criticism that comes with saying, "Warriors in four," followed by their dropping a game. I'm a gutless coward and a liar. Anyway, Golden State plays Houston's fast-paced style, only better. That doesn't bode well or the Rockets. *Looks like a coward anyways* If you think Warriors in 4, just say Warriors in 4. You probably did in previous rounds, why stop now?
I always though JDC has something about here that made her attractive - her prediction just makes her that much more attractive now
Sports predictions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.
Since the 1980's, teams/stars rarely waltz to an NBA championship their first time on the big stage. If they get there at all, it usually takes a couple of failed attempts before you break through. We have guys and a coach that have been there. They have a coach. To discount that so completely is journalistic folly.
I didn't like seeing that either but to be fair it's not his job to be a fan. I think he's actually been open on that point. Our announcers work for the team; the press doesn't. If that's his best guess -- and it's a reasonable, maybe even optimistic one compared to the mean opinion which is a sweep or 5 games -- what else should he say? I have the Rockets in 7. But it's not the job of beat reporters to believe in our team; that's the job of the fans, the team, and the organization. Jenny Dial Creech's pick did cement my crush on her though.
Have faith Red Nation. Rockets in 7 Game 1 - Win Game 2 - Loss Game 3 - Win Game 4 - Loss Game 5 - Loss Game 6 - Win Game 7 - Win
Man, what is up with Feigen? You would think the beat writer of the Rockets would show at least some favoritism for his team.. Didn't he give poor votes to McHale as CoTY, put Harden as 2nd in MVP and didn't even mention Brewer/Smith as 6MoTY? I mean the Cavs' beat writer voted LBJ first in MVP race..
Back in the Franchise/Yao days, I remember reading his and Fran Blineberry's columns. Fran was a complete hack that hated on the Rockets all day with his poetry-like articles. Feigen didn't have the finesse that Fran had in his stories, he was just straight up cruel to the team. I hated it because when watching him interview the players, he acted like such a nice guy to them and then went on to write garbage about them. It didn't worry me too much because I just thought "well, the Rockets aren't that great so these guys must be mad at them."
