Lock this up if already posted. Rockets guard Tracy McGrady sat out Sunday night's loss to the Nuggets, and will fly to Alabama on Monday to meet with Dr. James Andrews. "I think it's a smart decision," McGrady said. "I'm just not ready to play. With the limping and everything, I'm not healthy enough to play anymore. It's good that I'm going to see the doctor on Monday and get a second opinion, and then we'll make a decision on the future." Team doctors claim that McGrady can best get back to full strength by playing. However, the Rockets hope he can return from Alabama with a new treatment plan. "There's got to be," McGrady said. "If I'm limping, I can't continue to play my career by limping. There has to be some sort of other alternative that we can do, and I'm sure he has another answer." This couldn't have taken any longer. I would even consider a third opinion, just to be safe. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/55747/20081201/mcgrady_rockets_look_for_second_opinion/
It is good he is doing this, but I believe he should have done this over the summer, so the issue would be resolved by now. Hopefully Andrews tells him to get to work strengthening the knee. DD
On the bright side, The worse the Rockets play.......... The more chance for us to see Steve in a few weeks!!!! Mac needs to just go on a 2 month vacation..........Get ready to play, and when he is ready, he has got to be in kill mode........
I kept saying the name in my head wondering where I heard it from. I don't follow baseball at all, but I do know that Dr. James Andrews is the most feared name in the sport. It is almost always followed up with the dreaded words Tommy John, which automatically means out for not 1 but 2 seasons. I don't have any bad feeling about this though.
Well if McGrady needs Tommy John surgery, the Rockets doctors need to find a new line of work, because they have been working with Tracy's knee.........
hopefully t-mac can find a better way to get health...cuz this team really realy really needs him now. No one on this team can do what t-mac does.
I've heard of rehab to a certain stregnth, then play on it to build, but when a guy is limping, its not at that stage yet.
Where's the witch doctor? Somebody needs to cast some kind of hypnotist's spell on him. Give him some drugs to stop the pain and make him feel like SUPERMAN! Please! Please! HELP, HELP!
I wonder what kind of contracts Yao and T-Mac will get when their current ones are over. If I was an NBA GM, no way would I give T-Mac anywhere close to a Max contract. I think he'll only get 7M/Year contract for maybe 2 or 3 more years. No way he gets more than that. Yao..is a different case. It all depends on his health the next two seasons. If he is healthy, and plays 70+ games each season the next two seasons, then I would pay him MAX for 3-4 more years.
I say T-Mac retires actually, Yao will get the max for 6 years from us. Because, if it isn't from us, some other team definitely will...
Hopefully the doc will give him some sugar pills and tell him they are 'magic healing pills' and prove it is all in his head. Regardless, Im glad he is doing something about his knee. Just get better Tracy.
He will go to 100 Doctors if he has to until he finds one that will tell him you should stay home and that is the one that he will be satisfied with.
We've already known that. Hopefully doctor will tell him how to treat it and it will really help. Hopefully he is back for Clippers.
No way Yao gets a max contract from anybody in 2011. By then, he will be 31 years-old and may be in serious decline.
We shall see. Just because you say that doesn't make you an authority figure. I think that Yao will get a Max Contract IF he remains healthy the next two seasons. He may opt out after the 2009 season, and he will be 29-30 at that time. If he is healthy this season, and the next, and averages close to 20/10, Yao probably will get MAX contract offers from several teams. Whether or not Houston resigns him is a question mark. They seem to be going in a different direction, away from the dominant center / half court offense to a quicker, smaller Adelman-style team. But Yao is a franchise player for the Houston Rockets. And they earn $$ from him. He's still a bargain even at Max contract salary. If the Rockets want to go into a new direction, and Yao is healthy, then I think Yao will definitely get at least a 3-4 year Max Contract. T-Mac..forget it..he's done. He may not retire but his days as a Max Contract player is over. It's not just his health problems. It's his attitude, and professionalism.
