I don't know why you guys keep using that against him. Sure he said it, and now they didn't get past the first round, and now you can put it on him... But...he showed up this series, in every game. He may not be the T-Mac we once knew in 2005, the guy who could hit any shot over anyone, the guy that retired Bradley, etc. but he is what he is and he showed up every night and he played pretty well. By saying that, he takes the spotlight (and the pressure) off the role players and Yao. They have no pressure on them all they have to do is go out there and play their game. They didn't show up. How can he do anything about that? He was playing with the most pressure, and he played the best. He was the focus of their defense (which btw is a great defense). Not Yao, he was played 1 on 1 with an occasional double team thrown at him. T-Mac was doubled off every screen and doubled every where he went pretty much but his teammates couldn't capitalize enough. I'm not saying he played without mistake, or anything like that, but before you say trade T-Mac or anything, think about what that means. Think about the people who didn't show up, and change that. Not the one guy who did. Blame him, that's fine, but just don't throw it all on him because he said that, look at this series for what it was - a wake up call. For those who want to trade him to get 2 quality players around Yao, guess what? You've seen how Yao is able to lead a team without T-Mac...and I don't even mean in this postseason when T-Mac isn't on the floor. Look at when T-Mac went out for 8 games before Yao got injured, we were what, 2-6? It's not going to work. You saw how the AI deal worked out. Name 2 quality players we could get for T-Mac and i'm all ears.
Agreed. This team needs more playmakers and some role players with championship experience to get them through a seven-game playoff series. T-Mac did his best, and his best wasn't enough tonight. Even with Rafer Alston, etc. shooting horribly and defensive lapses throughout the game, the team still had a shot until the Jazz got a few breaks down the stretch on offensive rebounds. Hope this makes him stronger rather than weaker next year.
He is not aggressive enough... at one point of this game he is attacking and it worked i dont know why he went back to shooting mode when jazz are out of foul limits. Games 3 4 and 6 he is not aggressive too. So to lose out the series its on the entire damn team, but its on him too because his plays dont live up to that bold statement
He sure got a lot of press for that quote. If we'd won, everybody would have given him all the credit and pronounced him the best thing ever to come along since sliced bread. Now that we lost, he'll be looked upon as a shameless attention w**** who didn't live up to his words. All the attention that he brought upon himself is backfiring. Yeah, he should have just shut up and play.
Well, for starters it would have been nice to see him attack the basket the last 5 minutes of the game since the Jazz were in the penalty. He took only ONE shot the last 5 minutes. It was his time. He shrank under the pressure.
Have you played sports at all? It is amazing that you guys could not see that he was tired. He does everything, everything. You can't drive to the basket every time. Kobe is one of the best scorers and he can't do it. The problem with the Rockets is that they don't have a bench to rest the starters.
he showed up in every game?? The last thing I remember is in game 6, in 4th qt we were down only 1 and we got it rolling and then Tmac got the ball turned over for two consecutive times and followed by a missed long jumper. Utah then took the lead and won the game and never looked back. WE COULD have won that game and there will be no game 7 tonight and there won't be tmac crying tonight. Sure he is the best player in rockets team for this series and nobody is denying that. But he could have done better and talked less. Unfortunately he did just the oppersite and he deserved every blame he's gotten so far and will continute getting it in the long summer.
So what? Lost is lost, Kobe can post up 50pts, but laker still sucks... Just Shup up and play, Yao is not great, Yao plays like p***y time to time, Yao is being hammered and abused by Jazz hole, but he works on it...and fight hard ... If TMAC is the Great, he should attack the rim before the game is taking over by Jazz, if he's great, while the game is on him, he should fly high and jam the fxcking ball, but he lost himself in last 3 minutes of the ball game, and we lost. Yao never said that everything is on him, talking is fuxking easy...
