A trade which make perfect sense since Houston needs injection of young talent to improve and NY needing a superstar to Anchor their Roster. This thread by no means degrades McGrady, simply McGrady's back is not going to last a whole season. Houston and NY can both improve their Roster through this trade. If you get Francis + a couple of young players like David Lee, and Crawford through this trade, Houston will have one of the deepest and entertaining backcourts in the NBA. David Lee also is a great young prospect at the forward position(Ryan Bowen + scoring ability). Houston will now be able to run and gun with Mav, Phoenix, and Seattle. From New York's prospective this trade also make sense since New York has two #1 in 2006, and McGrady is a perfect complement to Marbury, and Curry. Since NY is in the Eastern Conference, we won't have to face McGrady too many times. I am sure Larry Brown is salivating at a chance to Coach McGrady.
Something tells me this thread will be locked soon. I've never understood the constant wanting of old players back. Francis didn't help this team when he was here, why would he help it now?
we could get much more for mcgrady (pierce and change) if we diid choose to trade him. plus, we will never be a run and gun team with yao. the rockets shouldnt even consider trading tracy unless his back acts up again next season. the thing lacking on this team is toughness and a third scorer...to me a great fit would be bonzi wells (he might be a headcase but so is artest and that seems to be working).
I don't get why so many people are so hang up on McGrady. Here's a question for all ya, would you take McGrady as a #1 pick now knowing all of his back problems today. I don't think Boston will do this trade due to McGrady's back problems and Boston certainly won't to send us a couple of nice young players in return. Let's face reality here, this trade is risky and I my self is not thrilled about Francis's style of play. But surrounding a Yao with some good guards just make a lot of sense then keeping McGrady. I think Isiah will be stupid enough to throw in a couple of #1 picks as well. If u think there is a better trade alternative, post it here.
When tmac is healthy, every club will take him due to his talent; when he is not healthy, nobody will take him due to his contract.
yea lets trade tmac so we can get francis again plus scrubs. come to think of it lets get rid of rafer alston so we can get reece gaines back, send swift in the ny deal so we can Mo T, and then we will traade deke and get piatkowski. This guy is out of his mind
No thanks. I enjoy watching SF play, but on MY team, I want a pg that can run a fast break, among other things. I'd rather dare to be great(gamble on Tmac's back), than keep trying to smash a square peg into a round hole.
That's so far from the truth, it's not even funny. Please read the thread instead of having these out of his mind quotes. Francis can actually play both guard position and would be a good combo with Rafer, he certainly is taller than Wesley. By the way, why do u think Orlando traded McGrady and his back problems to Houston in the first place? Maybe that's all they could get.
What has Steve Francis done in the past two years that's made you think he'd do more for this team than he did when he was here?
Tmac for steve nash Tmac for kobe Tmac for LB I agree but they prbly not. Tmac for AI, Pierce, .... any others, I don't agree. Keep our Tmac and let's see next season. my only concern about Tmac is his mentle, if he always worry his back then he will very easy to injury it again and again. it is a bad circle.
Usually they allude to something called "heart" or "the good ole days" - a bunch of sentimental hooey if you ask me. STAY AWAY FROM FRANCIS - HIS CONTRACT IS RIDICULOUS.
You want to trade a tall swingman with the ability to catch and shoot with a history of back problems ...for a short swingman without the ability to catch and shoot with a history of petulant behavior. Yeah, I'd take my chances with the back problems. Let's pretend to take your post seriously for a second. Who do we start at the SF spot if this "trade" happens? Ryan Bowen? Keith Bogans? Even without considering the noticeable drop in talent, our team would get a LOT smaller. If you think we have problems defending the wing now, what will happen if we start Rafer, Francis, and Bogans/Bowen at the same time?
