"He's pretty ticked off...really disgusted by the organization. I spoke to him as recently as a few days ago and he's clearly upset. He had no problem with the Houston Rockets attempting to move in new direction. However, he was really turned off by the that he was invited to New Jersey to play with the team and was told to basically head back home. When dealing with these athletes, in particular; a high quality athlete such as Tracy: you have to conduct yourself better as an organization. These kind of things really do go noticed by other players as well."

    - Steven A. Smith per his radio station this morning.

So, it's all on the Rox; McG is the innocent in all this?

Even allowing for RA's handling to be reactive to McG's radioactive actions of the previous season can SAS even begin to believe that players are all for McGrady on his self-created exile?

And I think management was pretty disgusted by Tracy's little stunt last year so I think we can now call this a push.

What other team lets a player take every other game off?

I think the team bent over backwards, until they broke ...and now he's mad.

"If you have nothing nice to say....." Just kidding.

I sympathize with Tracy's frustration. It's time to move him already.

Once the ties are cut, the Rockets and Tracy can move on. Until then, each will be "disgusted" by one another.

Morey better move his @ before the deadline, or he will become a distraction to the team.

that's all it is. tracy can't really complain. any sane person would know the organization would hit back when tracy returned and make him look like a fool.

tracy should have acted better last year at least publicly.

    Classic Stephen A stuff!

I think he'd be much better off if he'd stick to being a serious journalist or a showman, but not both. But would we?

    Cool story, Tracy.

No, seriously. He can say that all he wants, but he fired the first shot with the surprise knee surgery and the second by announcing his return date before the team was ready. What's more, when you're being paid $23 million a year, I don't care if they ask you to mop the floors, you say "yes sir" and get to scrubbing. NBA players not grasping how much of a privilege they have to make that much money playing a game is one of the saddest things about the league to me.

Any team that signs McLady next season will also get his good buddy/mouthpiece SAS. I'm sure that's something every organization will consider. Good luck playing in China, McLady!

T-Mac has a reputation of being a soft and whiny player. Other players will just see T-mac's complaints as T-mac being T-mac.

Screaming A does kind of have a point. Just because T-Mac may have dicked us last season, doesn't mean the Rockets have to stoop to his level and do the same. I say this because I know folks are going to bring up what he did to us as to justify what they did to him. Truth is, players do take notice of things like this when contemplating about which team to sign with. It could scare off potential free agents.

Honestly though, I think this organization has too much class to give T-Mac "pay back' like many fans wanted. Although it may not look that way to others, including other players.

    "High quality athlete"?

I love the fact that these two big mouths, Mcgrady and Steven Smith, are married to each other.

What the heck does this even mean? He was "invited to play with the team"? Wasn't he just part of the team and expected to play? And would have played if he hadn't opened his mouth in Orlando.

So McGrady's not mad that the team decided they don't want anything to do with him anymore, but he's upset he didn't get to go to New Jersey after he was invited? Color me confused.

Smith is obviously trying to create a bigger story here, because the way he words it is totally disingenuous and one-sided (and somewhat nonsensical).

Honestly, I'm just ready for everyone to move on. The fans, the Rockets, Tracy, etc. Let's get this over with already.

SAS said the same thing to Matt & Adam a week or two ago when he was in studio over at 790. Even then he said he spoke to T-Mac just a couple of days ago. I believe his exact quote was "Tracy felt railroaded by the Astros organization."

    Yes he said Astros.

Nothing to see here, please disperse. He's been somewhat of a mouthpiece for T-Mac over the years, so...

As far as other players seeing this and it affecting their feelings about coming to Houston - maybe a guy like Vince Carter would think that, but otherwise that is a bogus argument. Money talks in sports, plus we all know that players like being in Houston and have no reason to not want to play for Coach Adelman.

u do know when SAS had his own ESPN show, a lot of high profiled NBA superstars came on his show right? (iverson, kobe, melo to name a few) dude does have some ties with the "high quality" athletes in the NBA.

and just b/c he can talk with players over the phone and relay what they say that we have to be mad at him.

he's just reporting what tracy told him. he reported first that iverson's retirement was brief by TALKING to the guy, which ended up being true.
