He has done nothing but put up spectacular numbers when filling in for Ben Wallace this season when Wallace has been unable to play... It would have been nice to have him...
I doubt they give him up considering the suspensions and they just signed him to a pretty cheap contract considering his talent.
But if we would have signed McDyess, we wouldn't have Sura. Oh, wait a sec ... No really, roboknees is playing nice right now, but I highly doubt that they rebuilt him better stronger faster.
It seemed like a pretty big risk to sign him, especially for that much money. Even if we offered it, he probably still would have chosen Detroit.
I agree that McDyess has put up great numbers this year and is fitting in very well with Detroit. But I can understand why we didnt pursue him. I thought it was risky and thought the contract he got was risky. The risk is paying off for Detroit, but they could afford it with all of their other bigs. If McDyess doesnt work out there they can work through it. If we got McDyess and he didnt work out it would be ANOTHER bad contract to add to Taylor, Howard, Spoon etc. We couldn't afford to take the risk at this time.
